Oh my god, this is so good I just keep on reading it over and over again

Nope.. He’s not different at all it seems. And i’m guessing, given not just his info dump to the old man but his tone as well, this is where things are about to start getting dark. ugh.. :/
Seeing how Termie’s grand proclamation is presented as overenthusiastic babbling, it looks like the old dude is about to disabuse him of some naive notions. In which case we get some exposition.
Probably somewhat “dark”, indeed, if his ideas prove too optimistic, and he already talks about post-cataclysmic situation that he assumes can be quickly fixed. Then again, the rest of them don’t complain.
