Also,old question,how technologicly(sorry if I misspelled) advanced are the monsters? I mean,if I remember correctly at the ‘beggining’ of this comic book,when shadow and Mid were talking naked,they seem’d to be in a shower like room,and I’m just curious 😛
Hmmm… it’s hard to say, considering they don’t have certain things we take for granted, and yet they have things we don’t (such as the Aegis) which are perhaps even more advanced than things we have.
so? by the ” GURPS ” tech level guide, both realms are tech lvl 7.. gurps looks at the entire realm not just the 1 or 2 gadgets..
I think Tim’s realm is basically “our” world, which seems to be an 8.5 or so. That said, there really isn’t a whole lot shown, so I suppose 7 can be said confidently.
umm by gurps, tech lvl 8 is space fairing … but if you make space fairing a arbitrary lvl .. like .5 .. then you could be tech lvl 10 but not space fairing, till you added .5 … or maybe add a letter so you know what level of space fairing.. = 8.b still in own system,, f = folding tech,, w = warp.. an so on .. by that scale we would be 8,a went to space but no permanent presence ..
now,before anyone burns with the theory:”SHE’S BLACKHEART!” maybe she thought that shadow was a nickname of a human girl that he knows,he is young though and it’s that time of childhood were nicknames are ‘cool’.
I’m not denying the posibility but for me it seems very unlikely.

She IS he mother after all. Mothers do things like that. Even my 81 y.o. mother remembers things I did when I was a kid that I have forgotten about. LOL. (Yes. I AM that old.)
I know I said this before, but “Shado”, also spelled “Xiado”, is a perfectly valid Chinese name (pretty sure it’s Cantonese, like what is spoken in Hong Kong). Also fairly certain it’s valid in a few Indochinese nations, too (e.g. Vietnam). So if his neighborhood has a few Asian families, it’s not inconceivable she could mistake the name for Asian.
You might be on to something. They both have that beauty mark on the left side of their mouth….
Haha, this is old news you guys. 😉 I think that’s the first thing people noticed about these two particular womenfolk!
Then I am just slow on the uptake. It’s kind of obvious in hindsight, I mean his mom is ALWAYS wearing the same color as Blackheart’s skin.
That’s an excellent observation; the only variation from it (not a lot) is in #11, where a nightie she is wearing is a bit more orange than her usual yellow/gold. It might be the dimmer light, though.
So, she now knows that Tim’s got someone special in his life… that will probably lead to an embarrassing moment down the road.
Oh, I’d say that’s a safe bet! 😉

I can neither confirm nor deny anything concerning what Ruth knows, except that now she does know there is a Shadow.
Honestly I’m not saying anything about Ruth like everyone here; what I meant was that mothers’ have a 6th sense when it comes to their kids and their certain quips. Aw, how I miss those days. X3
Her little boy is growing up. I expect that, sometime tomorrow, she’s going to ask him who Shadow is.

Well, that certainly adds another check in the “Ruth is Blackheart” column. Also amusing how Tim gets a kiss on the cheek and immediately thinks it’s Shadow.
Yes, it’s veeeeery interesting!
And moms reaction in the left bottom panel to Tim saying “good night Shadow” after being kissed on the cheek. Her expression in the bottom right hand panel is great. Someone other than mom has kissed him on the cheek before going to bed. Love it!
I wonder what he’ll tell her if she asks him who Shadow is.
This is how I see it playing out:
Ruth: Who is Shadow?
Tim: What?…Where did you get that name?
Ruth: When I kissed you good night you said, “Good night, Shadow.”
[Tim looks embarrassed and then gathers his thoughts]
Tim: Remember the “rats”?
Ruth: Yes.
Tim: Turns out it was a girl…She’s been brought up in an orphanage and she snuck into my room.
I could see him fending off attempts to meet her by saying that Shadow is “very different”.
He’ll probably just pass it off as some girl from school, and no, she doesn’t know her. 😉
I would say she thinks he is dreaming of a normal girl. If she only knew where his socks really went.

I doubt he would tell unless she does already know. Unless she is Lady Blackheart *and* reveals that, I think that he would only tell her if Shadow agrees.
What I’m worried about is that she would go through his drawers and find the picture.
I doubt he’d go that far unless the secret REALLY got out.

Okay, so, maybe someone else has pointed this out before. But here’s a small detail I just noticed with the Ruth is Blackheart theory. The mole. Lady Blackheart has a mole just to the left of her mouth. Ruth has the same mole in the same place! I’m definitely on board with this theory.
