#114 “Someday”
Time for the maestro to work her magic!
Oh yeah, and just another quick thing, not really that important or anything, but, well, Tim and Shadow are now 12 years old canonically, both retroactively and going forward! So, next time you read through the comic (if you ever bother) you might notice a few slight differences here and there, mostly relating to dates/ages/quotes/etc. which now reflect the changes.
Hopefully, this’ll clear up any confusion if it happens to come up in the future!
Fashion montage!!!
But to slasher metal cuz they’re monsters.
Haha, I like how, to Shadow, Blackheart is becoming less “mysterious figure of legend” and more “that annoying aquaintance who keeps poking into your business”.
More like she’s becoming that match-making auntie.
Possible future mother-in-law.
And… she has easy access to human-world fashion items.
I think she just has very good hearing…
still guessing blackheart is tims mom
i still say blackheart is tims mom
I NEED SOME MORE PORN FROM YOU!.. im haiagh as hell right now and i just faped to this page…
Okay… now I’m 100% sure that Blackheart is Timothy’s mother
That green bag must have makeup in it…
I root for that being Tim’s Mom and she just thinks that this is the most adorable thing and so is helping how she can
I’m calling it now, she is the boy’s mother
Blackheart’s having way too much fun. 🙂
Heh heh heh, yeeeeeah.
I assume Blackheart is Tim’s mom but she definitely has a gift for knowing things and is attuned to what is going on with Shadow. If Tim’s mom isn’t a monster (like Blackheart) then the thing about her knowing when her husband pilfered from her stash is one heck of a red herring.
Yeah I’m of the thinking that Blackheart is Tim’s ma. Which is nice.
Well, she could be like the character ‘Angela’ from the series that started with “Eragon”. She had a knack for being where interesting events were taking place. 😛
Time for a little ~DRESS UP~!
Definitely got a shipper on deck here…
Shadow has gone from freaking out about the urban legend to just being annoyed by her.
If Blackheart is Tim’s mother, would Tim have the ability to go between realms?
Pretty sure it was explained at some point that Shadow needs her clasp pendant thingy to do that (Tim is using one as a belt buckle in some of the non flashback pages).
Good catch! Tim’s belt buckle does look lie an Aegis in #31 and #74. Meanwhile, I don’t see any indication that Tim’s dad has one, in any panel that shows him. Perhaps, if Ruthie is actually Lady Blackheart, he is totally in the dark about having married a monster?
On another note, I happened to notice that Nightmare’s aegis wasn’t visible in quite a few panels –I didn’t see it until #107, where she uses it as a belt buckle. Coincidence? Will Nightmare be defeated by Shadow between ages 12 and 18, allowing her to claim an aegis as a trophy (and give it to Tim)?
Not likely Tim’s dad does not know, she would have married him because they were just like Tim and Shadow back then, so she would have had no reason to hide it from him (quite the opposite).
It depends on how they met. What if Blackheart learned how to look human, in order to explore the human world, before she ever met Tim’s father?
Also, there is a thing about Nox that was implied back in #57 ( /?comic=57-moving-forward <–append that to the website name), which is that there could be more ways to travel between Nox and Earth than just the ways leading underneath beds. In #65 ( /?comic=65-blackheart ) it is specifically stated that Blackheart was a "middle of the road nightstalker" before mysteriously achieving high rank –she was not a "bed bug". It is therefore not a "given" that her meeting Tim's father was anything like Shadow meeting Tim.
By the way, one of the most peculiar things so far about the comic is that while #57 mentions large numbers of doorways and doors leading to various places from Nox, so far I've not seen any actual doors –just doorways and curtains.
In those scenes Shadow also said she would be back to pick him up. The idea that even wearing one is not enough to let him cross without her casts some doubt on him having Noxious blood. But even if he did, perhaps it takes some training or skill he just doesnt have, so cant use it without her?
There is another possibility. I’ve noticed that the male Nox residents have a different “style” of aegis (see #67) than the female Nox (#61, #64 shows Lady Moonlight with TWO of them!) –and Tim’s buckle is clearly the female style in #31. Perhaps males simply can’t use the female style, but Shadow could activate Tim’s buckle for him (if actually obtained by Shadow as a 2nd one).
I forgot to say that Lady Blackheart has either a third style, or a female style that has been damaged or modified.
Perhaps its not so much male and female, but they are from different guilds. Which would mean different guild halls, and different sets of portals. Which means the boys dont necessarily pop out from the same places… But would explain why Tims aegis looks like Shadows, she got it for him from the sisterhood.
Possibly. Different possibilities mean we have to wait for the author to present us with more information…and it could be years of their lifetime, to say nothing of how many years *we* have to wait, when it is often several comics per single day of their lifetime, before Tim gets that aegis….
On another hand, it Blackheart is Tim’s mom, she could likely present him with an aegis the same day she is revealed to be Tim’s mom. And that could happen much much sooner, than what I described above.
Whether Sunny is Tims mom or not, if she had access to get another aegis to give to Tim, why would she still be wearing her damaged one?
Many things can be damaged somewhat (“marred”) without losing the ability to function (and “there is no accounting for taste”). But Blackheart’s aegis might not be damaged; I mentioned it as just a possibility for why it is different-looking from the normal aegis that the rest of the female Nox have.
Theres a closeup on page 95. Given the back story on the same page, I’d bet that is, in fact, damage. Likely from a claw swipe.
