Brandon, why do noxians need to scare humans? Do they convert our fear in energy like in “Monsters, Inc” movie?
i wood say more like a drug… like Adrenalin,, a natural drug,,
I would say it’s more like food, or some sort of sustenance.
They don’t need to scare humans, they like to scare humans.
If scaring humans isn’t essential for their survival, then why does it look like that they care so much about training their young to scare humans?
Cultural reasons most likely.
There’s been a major misunderstanding going on lately with people thinking Shadow is in some kind fear-based school environment, but that isn’t it at all. I just got tired of explaining it over and over and let them think whatever they want until all is eventually cleared up in universe.
She’s in a preliminary training course for youths who want to join a guild that specializes in scaring humans. When she graduates from the Bed Bugs, she’ll be entering into the Sisterhood of Noctis as a full member, which was mentioned back on page 57. At that point she will be given free reign, essentially, able to go about her business on her own, so long as she abides by the guild.
The guild has limited access to the human world via the Aegises, which it hands out to it’s members. Not all Noxians have them.
Shadow is a bit different from normal though, since she was left on their doorstep, their guild leader High-Mother Moonlight has raised her within the confines of the guild from the start. Everybody else has joined willingly of their own free will.

Thank you for you effort, but I still don’t get it. If Noxians scare humans just for fun, then what is point of such guilds? Is it some kind of a leisure club? If yes, then how is Shadow going to earn her living as an adult Noxian? It doesn’t look like she is learning anything useful that will help her to earn money.
Money? That has nothing to do with Nox.
And they like to scare humans, therefore there is incentive to join a guild to gain access to them. Also the guilds hold territory and are basically rule Nox.
About as accurate as a first picture with a girl, taken by your parents, can look like.

Look at the terror in Tim’s eyes. you can taste it, and Shadow certainly can.
