I see Tim is holding the book. I assume there will be consequences if he tries to sneak a peek into it before Shadow takes it back.
Oh, and I forgot to add something about a suggestion that the book is the power source for the transformation glamour. If it is, and if Lady Blackheart is also Tim’s mom, then one or the other of them should have been carrying a similar book around, but neither has done that (except when LB gave a book to Shadow). So, either they are different ladies, or the book is not a power source for THAT spell.
The book is to learn the spell not generate the spell. Moonlight cast the glowing on herself from that book back when she was a kid and Blackheart has had the book since. She also learn how to turn human and has had more then a decade to perfect it, so she doesn’t need to read it from the book anymore.
It wasn’t my suggestion that the book powered the transformation glamour. Someone else posted the idea as a comment several pages ago.
Next, when Shadow received the book, she mentioned that it was ONE of the encyclopedias. There is no guarantee that Lady Moonlight used the same book as Lady Blackheart. It is also possible that after LB “reached the top”, and before she left Nox, she might have requested a scribe to make for her a personal copy or two of an encyclopedia volume or two. It would not make sense for the only copy in Nox of that book to now be in Shadow’s possession.

And so Shadow exposed herself to dozends of passersby, because this is halloween and people are on the street. Good luck keeping it a secret now.
Assuming there are any, in my experience the streets on Halloween can vary from crowded to almost bare, depending on the neighborhood. Plus it’s night, so people can’t really get a good look at her unless they’re close. Plus, as any number of cartoons and comics have shown, monsters can walk around openly on Halloween with zero consequences.
Naah! Craig, like bullies everywhere, chose a secluded spot to work his evil ways but it hasn’t gone as planned.
