The core I think has to do with fear, cause they use fear in this world to fill themselves to a degree. Maybe the core use to function more like fear does, and when it fell they had to learn to scare humans in order to obtain that lost feeling / power the core providef

Not quite the best intentions. After all, he made it pretty clear that both he and Midnight could become something more than mere “first reavers” by finding the answer to the greatest problem of the age. So, he’s after the reward as much as he’s after the answer.
I imagine there could be another problem if something he thinks is the answer is not actually the answer….
Yeah bad idea, if I’ve learned anything from movies and video games bad things happen when you’re near a giant molten core to do work.

I suppose the problem has to do with the fact the boys and girls are in separate groups, and the directors are called “mother” and I don’t really recall someone calling Lord Mortis that, but “father” seems to be the other one.
This being, they could be having a birth/death rate problem; might have to do with a lack of the fear energy they collect with the aegises.
Now about him being totally into her… sexually I concur. He lusts for her alright.
But I really doubt this guy is the kind to emotionally attach to someone; and I fear she’s being riled on by him. I can imagine them in a few pages in a complicated situation and Nightmare being abandoned in harm’s way; with an obviously broken heart and a new found bitterness that will create all kinds of hell for Shadow and Tim.
Honestly would welcome some adult art featuring these two. 😉
