I’m guessing it’s a play on “keep your guard up” tho I dunno why mid would have a reason to be too worked as far as she knows.
The reason would be Shadow’s high expectations. The higher the expectations, the easier it is to be disappointed.

In OTHER species blessed wth tails, moving the tail consciously rither vertically or to the side is a necessary action giving access to sexual organs – however, I doubt that either Midnight or Brandon had that in mind for Shadow.
considering how many species use a tail for balance, its probably like a human saying “stay on your toes”.
Whenever we’ve seen a noxian in any kind of combat stance, like when Mortis had Termite by the throat, the tail has always been up, and in Mortis case aimed forward as if for a thrust. I imagine it can be used for either guard or striking.
Can’t tell what the background in the central panel is, but it looks spicy. Also, is “keep your tail up” some Noxian colloquinism somewhat akin to “take care of your yourself and be careful”?

So what I don’t get at all is : so okay. I have a friend that I’ve been best friends with for 5 years. We hang out daily. He’s like my bro. He and I are hetero friends. Our interest are similar ; So how is it that Midnight is not into humans like Shadow. Makes no sense.
Maybe in a technical sense, it’s easier just drawing one or two characters then three every time I guess. The most in one panel has been three characters I believe.

Robnot and Rick B. Brandon has said she is Bi since the bath page just recently. She wants shadow but may have a hiden boy but this page may imply they pick up boys. Yeah, but no. Midnight might belong with Shadow, but she looks at Tim like he’s a dog or something. She’s got no interest in him. And while she might want a bit of Shadow’s tail, Shadow’s got her eyes on Tim and only Tim.
And just because two best friends have been friends forever doesn’t mean they’re going to wind up with the same interests. I look at my best bud and we’re into totally different kinds of women.
