The shrew is a small mole-like mammal classified in the order Eulipotyphla. True shrews are not to be confused with treeshrews, otter shrews, elephant shrews, or the West Indies shrews, which belong to different families or orders.
If Shadow and Midnight are about to go do something bad to Marcy it’s disproportionate retribution. Now yes it may be true that Marcy is just using Tim for something, BUT she hasn’t done anything really bad… yet. Nothing that deserves her getting horribly humiliated or scared so badly she’s gonna be traumatized. Hopefully Midnight manages to calm Shadow down and talk some sense into her before she does something wrong.
And in your experience a female who feels demeaned, humiliated and angry and who has chosen one target (justified or not) as the cause of her distress will always behave in a rational and restrained manner?
I note that Brandon has not yet rejected my earlier suggestion that ther’s some COLLUSION between Marcy & Craig the Bully.
Shadow’s alreaady gone full monster at Craig in Tim’ defemce.
Will Craig be found in Marcy’s bed?
In an adjoining room?
Is there yet more behind-the-scenes evil to be revealed?
Justification is a process of rationality.
At the moment, Shadow is feeling”demeaned, humiliated and angry”.
These are not emotions which foster rational behaviour.
In Shadow’s mind Marcy is guilty of encroaching on her private territory (Tim) and is the direct CAUSE of her current feelings.
Whether Marcy “deserves” the monstering she’s about to receive won’t matter to a vengeful Shadow – that’s a decision that WE can make sitting in our rooms with no personal involvement or emotional investment and a clear analytical overview.
We haven’t just had a boyfriend turn down the strongest offer that Shadow could make and suggest that she’s not even worthy because she’s not even human.
.
Of course she’s enraged, ropable in fact!
Shadow wants blood and fear and satisfaction and ONLY Marcy can give her those.
Lol, Midnight, where’s your since of self-respect? Tell Shadow, “no, not this time – we were going to lez out, but you passed on me. Now’s your turn to feel the chill”
So, here’s Midnight faced with a choice, to support a long-standing friend who’s called for help or a casual bar room pick-up, with no personal history, no medical certificate of health and unknown OTHER connections.
Is Eclipse a shill for a pimp? a sex slaving ring? a come-on for a drug syndicate?
Thinks: “One of THESE in her drink and then away to a tramp steamer! Next stop, Pireaus Ha! Ha!”
Well at least she’s not demanding vengeance against Tim (yet) or bad mouthing him. Guess we’ll see what comes of this, won’t we? But that was a dick move from Shadow, her friend there was having some fun, she should have waited.
The urgency of the moment, the driving need for immediate action.
It’s not rational or well thought-out but poiticians do it all the time just to be SEEN to be doing something “to address the problem”. Shadow’s not a politician but has that same need for “taking decisive action in the moment”.
It may work out well, or maybe not.
So does either Shadow or Midnight know how to find Marcy? She has left Tim’s home, right? She’s probably gone home, but the monsters probably don’t have her address, as far as we know. Or did I miss something? I’m guessing this will just lead to Shadow and Midnight talking to Tim, who will be happy to see Shadow and will try to calm them down. If he succeeds, he and Shadow could easily spend the night together (and make his mother very happy ;-).
I suspect that the Bedbugs (or maybe the High Mother Moonlight) have a complete directory of all beds and their usual occupants for their fear collection purposes. Perhaps the senior, more trusted members of Bedbugs are recruited into a “BedScouts” unit, before their graduation into adult status, tasked with bed inspections and updating the directory.
This would explain why there’s ALWAYS a monster under your bed and how a monster ALWAYS finds you, even if your folks move house. There may be more than one at any time and they might not always be the same one(s) but you should know THERE’S ALWAYS A MONSTER UNDER YOUR BED!
Tim is going through a rather confusing time in his life by realizing that girls are noticing him in an intimate way. Having Marcy throw herself at him and then Shadow pretty much overwhelmed him at that point. He really just needed the time to collect his thoughts and do some soul searching, although Shadow paying Marcy a “visit” may not be in the best interest. The last thing she needs is Tim pissed at her because she interfered in his “normal” life.

I’m back from my trip and I finally have internet back! I love Eclipse btw.
Good choice Shadow!
If she’s not getting any, you’re getting any either Midnight.
You’re not

TIME TO EVIL! >:D

Keep watching this page,
I don’t think that exactly justifies acts of vengeance if the person being targeted isn’t actually guilty of much. We’ll see if Marcy deserves it.

I’m not arguing against how Shadow’s feeling right now. I’m just saying there may be consequences to this.
@Lucas Oh yes, consequences- there are ALWAYS consequences.
Finally bloodshed!
Direct your fury at the one you’re mad at, Shadow.
That would be Marcy, because Shadow doesn’t want to be mad at Tim if there’s still a chance for the future (and we know there is).
Lol, Midnight, where’s your since of self-respect? Tell Shadow, “no, not this time – we were going to lez out, but you passed on me. Now’s your turn to feel the chill”
Midnight is the best, best friend in all of Nox. It’s a trait that will come in handy someday.

Wow that got dark. But oddly makes sense. Remind me to never go to a bar with you.
Hmmph! Wait ’till you’re invited.
Preferred drinks? I’m personally a fan of getting down with the Captain.
I’m going to the bar, you can come with me.
Hey, at least she knows Tim doesn’t like Marcy like that?
“Let’s be MONSTERS!” And this, friends, is how Mid makes First Reaver. 🙂
Well, she won’t get there by yodelling up Eclipse’s canyon!

Haha I know how they track her down. it’s a new feature of the Aegis I just invented the other day. Haha.
Do I gather you’re NOT going to share OR would you like us all to speculate?
