This is going to end super badly for Terminus, and not just because he’s falling into his role as the cliche upstart let’s kill our predecessors because what do they know villain. It’ll be an enjoyable ride watching this play out.
Plus as other commenters have mentioned, sometimes things are sealed for a reason.
Terminus: “We used to be a powerful empire and now we’re locked away, hiding and living on scraps compared to our ancestors.”
High-Father: *deadpan voice* “And you wish to open the seal, reactivate the core, and regain full access to all the doorways?”
Terminus: “YES!!!”
High-Father: *sigh* “Terminus, what side of the barrier is the the seal on?”
Terminus: “Huh?”
High-Father: “The seal Terminus… Which side of the barrier is it on?”
Terminus: “uh… Our side?”
High-Father: “So… The seal that keeps us here in Nox can be accessed from our side, and you believe we are trapped here because of it?”
Terminus: “Yes!”
High-Father: “What kind of prison gives the prisoners unfettered access to the locks?”
Terminus: “I don’t… uh…”
High-Father: “The seal on the core isn’t there to keep us in Nox you fool. It’s there to keep what destroyed our empire and reduced us to what we are now from finding us and finishing the job.”
Terminus: “… … That sounds like a bunch of made up crap to keep me from returning us to our former glory. Midnight, backstab him please.”
Perhaps not this, but there definitely was a reason why it’s locked and indeed if he still didn’t find the reason, his digging was dangerously incomplete.
Especially with such a… quaint condition for unlocking.
Assuming it’s all true and not misdirection or juicy rumours of the time when it was written, that is.
Wow, scary
Damn this looks bad like who’s is going to stop that sociopath
I think he’ll stop himself, somehow, someday, probably way too late. 😉
Im predicting a murder/framing one of the main characters in 3….2…..1….
Oh, so THERE’S the backstab, I was waiting for it. Tim and Shadow have their work cut out for them with this psycho!
Indeed, he’s going to be quite the thorn in their side, so to speak.
Nightmare is so sexy when she’s got that evil look on her face. Yikes.

Lord Havelock Vetinari DID had prison like that. Obviously, it was because he expected he will be put into it.
Didn’t we find that out because someone put him in it? Of course, that’s so like Havelock.
