First. Also, what’s the significance of the earrings for Noxians?
They signal that a female is ready to date, essentially.
For what it’s worth, I’ve known some humans who considered them to have this same significance. Despite knowing somebody whose mother did not have pierced ears and despite having sisters under the age of 10 who had convinced their mother to let them get their ears pierced. I’m sad to say I’ve also known some men who expressed the thought that it shouldn’t be considered pedo to be interested in underage girls who had their ears pieced, because they were clearly interested.
This sounds like it’s probably at least a somewhat more formal understanding than the one that I reported in the prior paragraph, but… different people are different, so until I see evidence to the contrary, I’m inclined to assume that it’s not a universal Noxian belief.

It WOULD be nice if there would be some universally accepted signal … sometimes it seems that women are hard to understand on purpose. Almost always, actually.
That’s not accidental.
Others agree. In Bujold’s Vorkasigin series, on planet Beta, they have dozens of earrings, with many different meanings.
Unfortunately, Earth-human society is FAR more fragmented than Bujold’s Betan society.
It’s also much more numerous and therefore prone to fragmentation.
Betan mental science has helped create much more rational citizens than you’ll probably ever find on Earth (even Canada).

So, by the last lines, I guess their gonna be talking about Shadow’s plains for getting back with Tim next (wonder if he’ll like her ear rings?).

Really funny. Now I expect Shadow to tell Midnight that she loves Tim and that she needs her help with the current problem….
The conversation between myself and my partner went something like this:
Me: Monster Under the Bed’s updated.
Her: [reads strip]
It’s inconsistent with the start of the story as she doesn’t have her ears pierced then.
Me: Remember that this is a year before those events. Maybe she lets them heal?
You CAN take them out. XD It is possible.
What about Midnight?
What about her? XD Earrings are for dating. You don’t need them anymore once you are attached. You no longer need to signal anybody you are open!
If ear rings are for dating what signals marriage? Or at the very least that they have a mate?
By the time we first see the adult Midnight (Strip #75), both Shadow and Midnight have ditched the earrings.
Which means Midnight found her lover too……..or she lost interest in dating or something.
