Of course noone would believed them, and if Tim realized it sooner on his own he could’ve avoid this whole scene including capturing his girlfriend – oh wait, he doesn’t know she’s his girlfriend yet. Everyone else knows but he don’t. At least THAT part is easy to believe, happens all the time.
Whether anyone believed them about a monster was not really the point, it was more so convincing Marcy to not get police involved. That might send out red flags to OTHER people.
After all, EVERYBODY’S got monsters under their bed (or in their closets).

To be honest, Shadow needs to poke Tim’s mom with a sharp stick. Not that she (mom) hasn’t tried to get Tim’s attention.
I know you are not going that way… hopefully, but I just know, if this scene was played out by the CW in something like The Flash or Arrow, the next scene would be Tim’s house being on fire.
