My youngest, when she was small enough to worry about monsters under the bed, took all of the slats from under her box-springs & laid the whole unit directly onto the floor. This had the amusing side effect of preventing her from storing stuff she didn’t want us to see, or even her losing stuff under that same bed.
Now she’s old enough to know better, but still keeps that bed on the floor. “I’m just more comfortable this way.” :/
great comic so far! but im having troubles loading the earlier pages when they have a lot of comments on them is there any way to make it so it wont show every comment and show the recent ones unless you hit a button saying “show more comments” or something? that was just the first solution i could think of but it would really help with loading pagesfor everyone
I know Tim is thinking, “I hope she invites me to her place someday?” I know the feeling Tim, but you may get something else soon. So for now let’s just wait. Because the wait makes you want for MORE! 🙂
Yo what’s up Brandon my man?! I gotta say, this isn’t a comic bro… It’s a masterpiece! (in work). If their was a Louvre for the internet, this would be in it. Whatever you do pal, don’t stop making stuff like this, don’t let any motherfucker tell you otherwise. You’ve got talent buddy, and I deeply adore and your imagination and creativity. Peace out bro, Adios!
I’ve debated with myself whether she might. I want it to be something funny though. I toyed with the idea of Agoraphobia (Fear of wide-open spaces) at one point but I haven’t decided.
How about Nyctophobia (fear of the dark) or Photophobia (fear of the light)? Ok, I gues Nyctophobia is out of question since she didn’t realy acted scared in Tim’s dark room….
We also have Anthophobia (fear of flowers), or how about Coulrophobia (fear of clowns).
Maybe Hexakosioihexekontahexaphobia (the fear of the number 666) – try to say this three times in a row, very fast XD
Or Triskaidekaphobia (the fear of the number 13).
How about Haemophobia, the fear of blood.
And last but not least, Nostophobia, the fear of returning home.
There is still so much more, but… meh, to much for now XD
Or, if there are monsters that are shaped similar to some animals (like canids, felines, reptiles, arachnids or anything like this) she could have a phobia for them.
She’d have to have a phobia of something we would consider normal to us, but really weird to her. That’s why I was thinking ‘outside’ might be a challenge, considering the rather close and enclosed environment she grew up in. She doesn’t even have a sky, or weather, where she is from. Just a labyrinth of tunnels and caverns, not unlike an ant colony.
Oh, and I totally had a breakthrough today at work! I know what her race is called now! XD I never had one picked out before, even during the original stories I wrote, but now I do. I’ll make sure to keep it a secret to drive people crazy for awhile though. 😉 or not.
She could have Arachnophobia (The fear of Spiders) or Acrophobia (The fear of heights). Now about her race, what is it? Cause it’s already driving me crazy not knowing and what family of monsters do they belong to? What is their genealogy? Do they have human ansastary or are they pure bloods? It’s simple thing like these that make a character really interesting.
Uh nice, something to look forward to. I love the anticipation 😀
Back to the phobias:
If you are looking for a fear for the sky, it’s Uranophobia (or Ouranophobia)
I have two more: Aeroacrophobia – Fear of open high places and Anablephobia – the fear of looking up… but that could also mean just looking up at the ceiling… but also up into the sky, at huge buildings, etc.
I’ll stop now with those XD
I absolutely love the art style and the story is just adorable. As a wannabe author I once had an idea for a story kinda similar to this where a ghost girl is supposed to be haunting a young boy, but they instead become best friends and eventually something more. Great minds think alike, right? I’m so excited for next week’s page. The waiting will be like Timothy’s scar on his shoulder: painful but totally worth it.
Thanks! Yes, I’ve had many ideas over the years I would love to try my hand at (and still might someday), but funnily enough, I landed on this one, which (in retrospect) was a fairly new idea that came about with very little planning at first. I wish you good luck on any creative venture you undertake!
You’re not the only one that can’t wait, it’s already driving me crazy. The week just can’t fly by fast enough for me. Brandon, you should consider trying http://www.Patreon.com/ I’ve got a page there to get support for my game dev. projects. You can consider it an alternative income.
I’m sure a lot of readers here will be more then willing to support you, if you can get an X amount through Patreon you could update more then once a week. It’s just a thought.
It seems I’m one of the few people who don’t like patreon… probably just because I don’t like beeing “forced” to pay for something thats not rent, internet, etc. on a regular base (unless I have totally misunderstood how patreon works?).
If it’s about a bigger project like turning a webcomic into a printed one, into a movie or game or something like this, than kickstarter is a good founding site for this imo. But there are probably not many people who think like this, right? Considering how popular patreon has become in such a short amount of time ^^”
It’s not really turning it into actual work, you can update the comic when ever you want and you don’t have to work on it all the time, only when you want to. It’s how I develop games, it’s hobby not a necessity. But it’s still up to you if you want to use it or not.
As I understand it you can choose whether you want to receive donations in monthly subscriptions or one time donations. Then you can set specific fundraising goals with rewards and stuff for those who donate. I personally think it would be cool to show some of the first sketches of the characters as rewards, but I think that’s what you’re doing on the fb page. But the whole project can go ahead as planned with the patreon site being just a place where fans can support the creator of their favorite content. Sounds pretty good for up and coming artists.
The thing about the original concept art as rewards, is that there really isn’t much in early development. The pics on the FB page are the early pics I did, then I basically jumped right into the comic head-first. That’s why they look a bit weird in the first few pages as I had only drawn Tim probably once fully.
Speaking of games, have you thought about developing a small game inspired by the comic. If not I can help with it, I can make small 2d games real easy. 3D games is a completely different ball game.
Games never really entered my brain concerning this project… not really sure it fits the bill for an interesting one, other than an RPG or something. Of course, those elements won’t be introduced for quite some time.
I’ve got most of the details down, but I’m not sure if I should go ahead and post it. I’ve never done a fanfic before, I’ve always written original content. So this is something new for me and I still a lot of editing to do before it’s ready to be read.
So… I take there’s more than just her down there? I wonder if there’s a Monster Dad that Tim will have to face eventually. I think there is, but that would be awkward in a few years…
But I kinda like the “forbidden love” thingy going here.
I have fallen in love with the story… I swore I wouldn’t hunt down the short story but…. I gotsta know!!!
… so I did…
AAAaaaannnnndddd now, I’m pilfering all of the awesomeness with my eye holes that I can!
Don’t worry I won’t spoil anything for anyone else! And yes, it’s AWESOME that you made it into a webcomic!
I wish I had talent for writing AND art!
I can see a few differences already… I love it! I read both of them in one sitting… It makes waiting even more worth it to see how it all ends up playing out in the comic!
My youngest, when she was small enough to worry about monsters under the bed, took all of the slats from under her box-springs & laid the whole unit directly onto the floor. Now she’s old enough to know better, but still keeps that bed on the floor. “I’m just more comfortable this way.” :/
Heh. That’s funny!
And she’s just being careful! Of course, she’d better watch the closet too! 😉
Aagh, closet monster, don’t get me started. LOL
Hehe! Started on what? Closet monsters are totally a thing! XD
They’re annoying as hell, not even scary. Hell the only thing they want to do is make you laugh. LOL
And then there’s Roz.
She’s always watching! XD
And shadows twin comes out
great comic so far! but im having troubles loading the earlier pages when they have a lot of comments on them is there any way to make it so it wont show every comment and show the recent ones unless you hit a button saying “show more comments” or something? that was just the first solution i could think of but it would really help with loading pagesfor everyone
Isn’t it already set up that way? It is for me…
Huh. Well whaddayaknow. They are all open now. Used to be they were closed until you hit ‘comments’…
And thanks! 🙂
Oh mah gawd why did I even read the whole thing its so trim! But there is something catchy in it that make me read it so good work i guess.
Thanks? XD
I love this and can’t wait for more.
Thank you! Stick around, there’s plenty more on the way!
I know Tim is thinking, “I hope she invites me to her place someday?” I know the feeling Tim, but you may get something else soon. So for now let’s just wait. Because the wait makes you want for MORE! 🙂
Absence makes the heart grow fonder, they say.
😉
WooHoo! I’m the 92nd comment!
I’m REALLY looking forward to seeing where this will lead!
Thanks! Glad to see everyone sticking around!
I’m certain you will be pleased.

Heh! Well, thank you Hugh! I shall keep on keeping on!
Glad your so into my little fiction!
We need more pages !!!!! awesome idea, please work your imagination at the best !!!
I certainly try! More pages will of course be on their way!
Does she have any phobias? I’m not sure if she does since she is a monster.
I’ve debated with myself whether she might. I want it to be something funny though. I toyed with the idea of Agoraphobia (Fear of wide-open spaces) at one point but I haven’t decided.

It’s an original race, with original origins. I’m not trying to fit them into pre-established mythology. I’m creating my own mythology! 😉
Awesome, and they’ll have at least one or two nuts in their family tree, right?
Eh? Well, there’s always one, at least!
Uh nice, something to look forward to. I love the anticipation 😀

Heh. I like the idea, but doing that treads a fine line between turning this from a fun hobby into actual work…
It seems I’m one of the few people who don’t like patreon… probably just because I don’t like beeing “forced” to pay for something thats not rent, internet, etc. on a regular base (unless I have totally misunderstood how patreon works?).

The thing with Patreon is that it’s voluntary. You only pay if you WANT to. I’d still be providing the comic for free.
IF I ever bother using it anyway. I’m still a little weary of it myself.

Um… no. LOL!
Games never really entered my brain concerning this project… not really sure it fits the bill for an interesting one, other than an RPG or something. Of course, those elements won’t be introduced for quite some time.
I was thinking more along the lines of a platform game. Like Mario on the NES, but not the same. =^.^=
I’m not really sure how that would really work with this concept to be honest! XD
Actually, yeah, I do have a workable concept, but it involves quite a few spoilers and new characters! XD
I was actually thinking of using the plot line the fanfic I wanted to write. =^.^=
Haha and what does that consist of, eh? Based on Tim and Shadow, or a new protagonist existing elsewhere in this universe?
Nope, it’s about Shadow sneaking into the kitchen to raid the cookie jar. LOL
Lol That actually is an idea I’ll be looking into. XD
I’ve got most of the details down, but I’m not sure if I should go ahead and post it. I’ve never done a fanfic before, I’ve always written original content. So this is something new for me and I still a lot of editing to do before it’s ready to be read.
I’d love to read it if and when you do post it up!
I’ll try and get it posted as soon as it is done then. =^.^=
So, the monster under the bed… Or should I say… the MONSTERS under the bed?
Monsters would be correct, but we’re really only concerned with one of them.
For now.
Really enjoying this comic and I can’t wait to see where it goes.
The art style is great.
Thanks!
So… I take there’s more than just her down there? I wonder if there’s a Monster Dad that Tim will have to face eventually. I think there is, but that would be awkward in a few years…
But I kinda like the “forbidden love” thingy going here.
I’m certain they will both have many repercussions to face in the future on both sides of the bed! 😉
If you know what I mean…
No…?
I have fallen in love with the story… I swore I wouldn’t hunt down the short story but…. I gotsta know!!!
… so I did…
AAAaaaannnnndddd now, I’m pilfering all of the awesomeness with my eye holes that I can!

I wish I had talent for writing AND art!
Hehe, well now! A double thank you for you then! One for liking my comic and story, the other for not spoiling any surprises.
Although I assure you there’ll be a few surprises in store for you here, yet. 😉
I can see a few differences already… I love it! I read both of them in one sitting… It makes waiting even more worth it to see how it all ends up playing out in the comic!
