Is boning a human really such a great stigma in Nox? They look like a society that is very liberal with sex, and humans are biologically compatible but can’t get them pregnant (without magical assistance). The horny teenager girls could just go and have endless boytoys in the human world.
actually, this is gonna be so hilarious if the conversation between Nightmare and the highmother goes like this:
– Shadow actually has a HUMAN lover!

Tim’s mom used magic to turn herself into human, and Terminus’s girlfriend was only teasing that she was pregnant (Terminus had a reaction of “if only it was that simple”).
So no, they can’t crossbreed, unless they use spells.
Presumably it would be easier for the guys to do it though, since the girls need to keep up the spell for the entire time of the pregnancy.
That was just a visual/illusion spell wasn’t it? He wouldn’t be a hybrid if that was the case.. And Terminus doesn’t seem to be hiding anything while sleeping with the human woman.. Plus that whole scene with the people drugging and capturing her wouldn’t really make any sense if she was preg with a normal human child.

Illusion magic is just that. it doesn’t change their genetics. It just hides them in a fake illusion for all outward eyes. They are still very much Noxian on the inside.
Therefore, it does not change DNA of any children they have.

I’m glad you confirmed that. I suspected Nightmare was going “off script”, what with Terminus seemingly cutting her out of the plan, but I wasn’t certain.
One thing for sure, by not letting her know what he had in store for his “proposal”, she’s a potential liability. She may not know the whole plan, but she knows enough to be a threat to his grand designs. (…and yes, that was an intentional RUSH ref)
Wherever she stands now, I’d bet a fistful of loonies Terminus is considering whether to let her live or if she’s still somehow useful to him.

Obviously, I can’t speak for Brandon, but personally, I doubt it. She’s still complicit (re: in up to her neck) in Terminus’ plan, including High Father’s murder, assaulting Mortis and whatever was done with him afterwards. But, if Nightmare can throw Shadow under the bus, it might open the door for a shot at Terminus’ proposed bonding rite. Getting Shadow banished, or at the very least, trashing the reputation of her hated rival, would just be a bonus.
Hopefully not also at the expense of Shadow and Tim. These kids just finally got hooked up, don’t run the damn bulldozer through it already….

Maybe, maybe not.. All she knows is that her old friend “tim’s mom” left to live in the human world. To say nothing of whether anyone suspected monsters and humans could procreate.. That revelation alone could cause major problems!

Think he meant for the readers, since Chapter 4 came out in 2018 and is ending now in 2022. Still, looking forward to reading Chapter 5.

So, will Tim be proactive? Will he set a trap for Nightmare? Will Spencer and Marcie set a trap for Nightmare?

That she is in love with a human? There is nothing wrong with that Ms. Nightmare.
More than that, NM knows tim is a half breed and moon knows tim’s mom is protecting shadow… for some reason.. she’s going to put it together if she hasn’t already. Who knows what kind of laws or societal and official “protections” they have in place to prevent monster-human interactions, or even human knowledge of monsters to begin with.
^ I meant It’s not clear if moon has any even concept in her mind of tim’s mom actually procreating with a human.. or that it’s even possible. Combine that with her knowing tim’s mom’s connected with shadow and she’s going to see the full picture.. this could turn out really badly if she doesn’t take it well or other find out.
Looking back on pages 91, 95 and 108, I suspect there isnt much Moonie doesnt know at this point as far as T&S. And she may not be happy about it, but even she admits it gets results, and doesnt outwardly express the same disgust in it as noxious social norms seem to, though that may have just been her being gentle with an upset Shadow. The question is with Ruthless warning her off meddling, what she can or is willing to do about it now that its making real waves among her kids.
What I am wondering though is what “Mother Moonlight” was originally named before she started glowing, presumably during the events involving “that old book” which may or may not be the same one she loaned to Shadow.
Yeah, I agree, it’s unlikely she doesn’t know. I’m more interested in knowing if she had any idea that nox-human children is even possible… and even if she did, did she, could she, suspect that Shadow’s human friend was actually Ruthless’s child. All she knows now (as far as we’ve seen) is that Ruth left over human “obsession” (and likely suspected it was a man) and now she’s taking Shadow under her protection. From Moon’s POV it would make sense if Ruth was simply helping out someone like her. But once she finds out that Tim is a hybrid and is Shadow’s “friend”, who Ruth is helping Shadow with, it’s going to be hard not to put it all together.
I don’t think she’s going to do anything stupid or be that upset but.. but you never know.. Especially since this news isn’t a secret to only her. Might be forced to act or something.
That is a good question. It isn’t exactly a nox/”monster” sounding name truthfully.
