Uhm… that’s a strange reaction from Tim?!? With a … ahem “Cat” out of the bag.. and Ruth admitting she’s know from the start… I would have logically think Tim would be wondering ~ “Why aren’t you trying to stop me if you know Shadow is not human.. do you know about her people and nature? Or is it you just don’t care?!?”
I think it makes sense. This is kind of a bombshell the parents are dropping on him now after all this time and Tim is clearly afraid to hear what else they know. Probably needs time to process things. And then maybe he’ll start asking questions when he’s ready to ask them.
considering his mom knew about shadow and got on him about his missing socks indicating he was doing teen boy things with them, i can see why he’d be mad
You call it childish/tantrum but that is a pretty normal reaction given the circunstance.
You try hard to keep something secret for years and one day, peoples you trust, casually drop the bombshell that they know about it and they have been playing with you for years.
That’s a pretty big breach of trust and cutting all form of dialogue until you manage your anger is pretty normal
Plus, you judge him for “refusing to listen” but only us know that this is juste the premise for important revelations. For him, they are about to continue talking about how they knew about something very important to him.
It’s not a breach of trust, at best its embarrassing cause they have clearly not tried to stop his ‘liaisons’ despite his efforts to keep it secret. Their silence says they either approve or they have decided to allow it which means HIS thoughts on how they would view such a relationship are inaccurate. I’d think he’d want to Know IMMEDIATELY Why they have allowed without comment or criticism his rather loud and erotic sexual encounter to go on in their home without saying anything at all?!? Clearly they know and feel different about it than he was expecting.. so the chief question would be Why?
…”You call it childish/tantrum but that is a pretty normal reaction given the circunstance”…
It may be normal for a millennial but i’m a boomer and I expect myself and others to receive bad news, personal or business, with a greater level of self control.
Whether your wife leaves you, you get fired, your bank account gets hacked and all your savings are gone- you take the hit, keep a straight face (you *will* be hurt inside but don’t show it) because showing that you’re angry (hurt, dismayed) gives evildoers their entry to your psyche.
What evildoers?
There’s always (at least) one nearby and waiting, they may be a schoolfriend, a work colleague or just a random bystander, but they don’t need to be shown that you’re (temporarily) vulnerable.
Just ask yourself, why do so many boomers think of millennials as snowflakes?
I’d have figured that this’d have gone like coming out of the closet. Why is Tim upset that his parents know and are apparently understanding about the whole thing?
Tim’ reaction may seem a bit immature, but he’s just found out his parents were keeping secrets _about his life_ and he reacted with anger. The revelation of them ‘knowing’ embarrassed Tim, as it would any teenager; his pride took a hit. Let’s hope he calms down enough for Ruth to make up for hiding things. (Look at her expression in the fourth panel. She knew it was wrong.)
The the REAL truth has yet to even come out.. In a way this wasn’t even their secret, it was his! He’s getting angry that they knew about his secret. lol]
Wait until he finds out the truth about his mom.. or that shadow knew the truth about her and him this whole time.
Honestly though, Ruth tried to show her true form to Tim but he was too oblivious to even notice, so she can’t exactly throw stones at Tom’s unsubtle approach. Tim is in for a rough few days, he still doesn’t know that he’s a half-Noxian, that his mother is an exile, and more importantly that Shadow knew all of this. Poor kid is going to need therapy after all this.

Brandon has specifically denied that
It would have made Tim and Shadow first cousins and I doubt that Tom and Ruth(Lady Blackheart) would have allowed a developng sexual relationship between them.
Shadow’s parentage is more tragic than “oops I boinked my cousin” if the concept hasn’t changed, and it doesn’t make a lot of sense for Moonlight to orphan her own daughter just to raise her in the guild. Depending on if she knows where Shadow came from, it might be a favor to someone else.

He’s wondering. But he’s not ready to actually ask. Or rather, not ready to actually hear an answer.
It’s just too awkward. :]
I could buy Tim being ‘scared’… but angry is a weird response…
I don’t think he’s angry.
No, he’s throwing a tantrum!
Well, I can totally understand Timothy reaction. He needs a little time to process this new info.
Refusing even to listen?
That’s childish, not understandable.
considering his mom knew about shadow and got on him about his missing socks indicating he was doing teen boy things with them, i can see why he’d be mad
Did she know about Shadow at that time? Your evidence is?
He can be mad (irritated, angry) without throwing a tantrum like a toddler.

Maybe he’s going to listen on the next page
Hang on, Tim, there are more revelations to com.
How did “come” wind up “com.”?
It’s what Bob Ross would have called a “happy accident”. 🙂
Don’t know mat. Perhaps it was just a typ.
Nah. Definitely Freudian slip.
Sometimes text is too small and a bit squished together. I almost read it as “CORN” thought well that’s just to corny to be correct.
I’d have figured that this’d have gone like coming out of the closet. Why is Tim upset that his parents know and are apparently understanding about the whole thing?
No, no, no! It is the male monsters that come out of the closet. Shadow comes out from under the bed.
Yeah….that went well. Hope this gets salvage later.

Tim is mad that his parents hid the fact that they knew he was hiding information from them? Not much of a leg to stand on there.

Wow. That kind of reaction from Ruth? She’s not just mad. She’s scared. Brandon, how bad was it when they had to run from Nox?
We don’t know whether Tom was ever IN nox but Lady Blackheart was under threat of the death penalty when she left to disguise herself among humans.
Illicit relations with a human!
Creepy!!
I could see mom suddenly whipping out her tail to snag Tim before he can leave. THAT should get his attention.
Which also brings up the question: what would (will) Tim look like if he has a hybrid human/ monster form?
Where would farce plots be without people bursting out of situations without listening to vital information?
Pretty much all of literary (fiction) history would be at least a 3rd to half shorter! lol

The “left a foundling to myself, nobody noticed” plot is too silly to be implemented even in a good comedy, indeed.
Indeed, Shadow’s parentage is still quite tragic and she is NOT Moonlight’s actual daughter, just raised by her when no one else was a round to do so.

Disengaging is probably the best choice for the moment, but leaving for school not so much. Once he calms down he’s gonna start wondering stuff.
Also how’s he gonna react to Shadow knowing about his mom knowing and her original identity?
Well Thomas, everybody is being honest and not keeping secrets. Feeling better?
..”I find the reaction of Tim quite realistic……”
For a two-year old, or a millennial snowflake, no argument.
