I had my doubts there until I saw your reply. She just seemed too … too … polished, too sweet… That cute little black choker paired with a lilac outfit and pink accessories, yup, it screamed someone trying too hard. Or just really that innocent.
New Theory: Nox is the name of the Roman Goddess of Night, whose name also translates in Latin to “night,” so maybe the Noxian’s have a slight Roman/Latin-esque accent to their voices? Judges?
I feel that the “mouth-structure” of the words, more or less FORCES the accent, like French does, or German. Modern Italian is the descendant of Ancient Latin, so the pronunciation (abd therefore the accent0 will largely transfer.
What modern-day speakers of Latin do you think are examples of the pure “Latin accent”?
To be a penpal you have to write…to write, you have to be able to read…can Shadow or any of the Noxians read? Can’t recall it coming up…might’ve but I can’t recall…
Why on her own? Her man could teach her.
Besides, they may have manuals in case they need to read something. Much like they have shapeshifting disguise spells in those magic books (not some deep archives) in case they are needed… just not offered to all the public for messing around whenever someone gets bored.
You just sparked a ton of questions in my mind with just 3 sentences.
I’m assuming Noxians have their own language and script. Can’t really have a society without at least language. Writing is huge plus but kinda optional to a point. Our early stories were oral, not written, for example.
1. How influenced is Noxian language/culture by Human culture? Is their script somewhat reminiscent of the Latin alphabet? Do they have similar concepts as our culture (for example, the idea of owning something. It was foreign to the First Nations. Was it foreign to Noxians?)
2. Do all the Noxians speak English? Is it a taught language in school? If not, how/when did Shadow learn to speak it? IIRC, she could communicate with Tim when they were children. Did Tim teach her or did she know it before meeting him?
3. Or maybe none of the Noxians are speaking English and instead their speech and ours is being translated real-time by magical means? If that’s the case, is it something innate to the Noxians? A racial passive, “you can communicate with all other sentients”?
4. Speaking of school, what DO Noxians learn in school? What are necessary subjects to know in Noxian society?
5. Do Tim and Shadow actually write letters to each other? The only means that I know said letters could reach each of them is through the bed portal. So if you’re gonna give him/her a letter, which you’d have to do in person since they aren’t any Nox-Earth postpeople AFAIK, why not just tell them in-person?
6. The idea of a Nox-Earth postal service made me wonder if Tim can travel to Nox? Can anybody pass through the portal? IIRC, you need that magic almost-heart-shaped box that Shadow wears as a cloak clasp. If Tim had it, could he pass through?
I doubt you’ll answer any of these since none of these questions are even remotely focused on the story but I’m gonna post this anyway because I love asking questions.
Writing letters actually makes lot of sense: remember that Tim is not always on his bed. Shadow can write letter and put it under his bed while he’s away, he will later read it and write reply and leave it under the bed again.
Tim will need his own key. Not sure just how tightly they are controlled. If one is stolen, will it work? There were hints about an organization that knows about Noxians, and isn’t happy.
They may have preferred areas for those portals.
Either way, if Nox used to be a big transportation hub linked to multiple other worlds, perhaps being a polyglot there isn’t much more noteworthy than high magic capacity.
Just to be clear here, is anybody else thinking Spencer’s girl is a Noxian, too? I’m thinking she might be, but I’m only about 50% sure. The other 50% is any of a number of mythical, magical girls, so Noxian’s in the lead.
It’s a VERY Late stage in the story-telling process to introduce not only a new character, but a whole new race of them.
Brandon might get away with it if he can claim that we’ve already encoutered them (or at least one, – Anna’s lab-coated medico perhaps. She’s not been confirmed as either human nor Nox — yet!)
The fact that he’s questioning if she’s real or not makes me think it really could be something like a female Noxian leaving notes by his bed or something. I mean why would he be so confused otherwise. The “spooky stuff” comment even more so.
Wait… Are ALL the girls actually Noxians?
Dun dun DUUUNNNNNNNNNNNN!
No, there ARE real humans in this comic, I swear!
Marcy doesn’t count! XP
Haha, That leaves several more real human characters! Grace here for example is definitely a real human!

Cue john cena are you sure about that
And we got another cutie!
Will we learn more about this “She” Spencer is talking about soon?
Considering Tim’s calling Shadow foreign, does she (and by extension, the rest of Nox kind) have a certain accent?(Like more pronounced s’s)
Actually, maybe all Noxian’s have a slight raspy voice that a ghost would have? Or a English accent akin to most devils?
Noxians probably do have some sort of vague accent, but I’ll leave that up to your imagination.
If you could pick one of the two choices above, which would you pick?
Northern German (Prussian) or further East (Ukranian/ Russian or Latvian/Estonian) would REALLY suit Nightmare and Terminus.
Jester comes to mind!

“Whatsa madder, you, eh?”
I didn’t mean an Italian accent. I meant more of a Roman/Latin accent, like from the days(and in Noxian terms, nights) of the Roman Empire?
I feel that the “mouth-structure” of the words, more or less FORCES the accent, like French does, or German. Modern Italian is the descendant of Ancient Latin, so the pronunciation (abd therefore the accent0 will largely transfer.

My best guess would be Spanish or Italian.
The cast of characters is growing…
Not yet.
“Who you gonna call” Sorry just reading the something weird in the neighborhood got that song in my head
Good, Good. *wrings hands*
Lol Saw Frozen Empire as well so the song is fresh from that
I’d call Danny Phantom instead… but that’s just me 😛
To be a penpal you have to write…to write, you have to be able to read…can Shadow or any of the Noxians read? Can’t recall it coming up…might’ve but I can’t recall…
we only know Ruth could be the only noxian who can read in a human language
What human language? There are many. Or do Noxians only interact with English speakers?
Unless noxians have their own script, Ruth had to learn how to read and write in english on her own
Why on her own? Her man could teach her.
Besides, they may have manuals in case they need to read something. Much like they have shapeshifting disguise spells in those magic books (not some deep archives) in case they are needed… just not offered to all the public for messing around whenever someone gets bored.
Shadow knows her ABCs, to a point. They must learn this stuff in the Bed Bugs pre-school days.
She can be seen reading a book on “Human Fear” back in the past.
You just sparked a ton of questions in my mind with just 3 sentences.

Well, she used that book somehow…
Ruth gave her a magic book which would imply they know how to read and write. Whether they use latin script or something else is a different question.

It’s either that or Brandon’s hinting that Spencer’s girl is a ghost. <w<
I also feel like he’s implying that. Perhaps a certain ghost girl who name rhymes with “Crisper?”
Something Weird in the Neighborhood wasnt a big enough hint for you?
There was also the fact that when Spencer first appeared this chapter, Tim asked him if he saw a ghost.👻
The fact that he’s questioning if she’s real or not makes me think it really could be something like a female Noxian leaving notes by his bed or something. I mean why would he be so confused otherwise. The “spooky stuff” comment even more so.
Tim and Spencer presenting their noxian girlfriends to eachother be like Spiderman pointing to another Spiderman
Wait I thought they didn’t want to go home earlier
They haven’t yet – though Spencer’s really close.
big reveal?
Neighbourhood MILF?
Neighbourhood MILF
Can we get some pics of Spencer’s mom?
^
This is gonna end up as a red herring and the guy isn’t boning a noxian but Meru the succubus or something like that.
