#312 “Squeeze”
Hah! I bet you thought I was going to reveal Ruth was a monster! FOOOLED YOU!!
Seriously though, it’s coming soon enough, but it’s gonna be GOOD.

It was 2019 when Ruth was going to reveal herself to Tim, I wonder what year it will be when it actually happens.
Soon.
Yeah THIS is NOT helping the situation!!! Bad-Ruth! This is just going to make Tim EVEN madder when you come clean and You KNOW you will have to eventually… why add to the lies!?!?
What the added lies are? She _is_ quite fine with this. :]
Isn’t Ruth part of the nobility in NOX ? That would mean Tim (decedent) would be part of the nobility. In turn with the power struggle going on in NOX. Tim could fight for right to rule with Shadow as his queen ?
Should I be stuffing the cat back in the bag. And cover up what I just said ?
I think she WAS but isn’t anymore. That she’s technically exiled.
There is no nobility in Nox, not in a family way. It’s a hierarchy based on rank and position. SHe does happen to be the sister of the current High-Mother, though, yes.
Something tells me the word you are looking for is “descendant”, not “decendent”. Tim’s not dead.
Trying to teach the English language to Americans?
Really?
Why not count sand grains?
Because I’m one of the sand grains? Because I’m OCD about confused speech? Because I’m old enough to remember what a dictionary is? (BTW, Happy 78th!) Because Brandon already took care of the non-existent Noxian nobility issue so I kind of redirected myself? Pick a reason; I don’t know. 🙂 🙂 🙂
Thank you for the kind wishes.
I hope you can work out an acceptable reason for all the rest.
You have MY good wishes in that.
Seems than Tim is (for now?) too shocked to ask “how do you now about Nox?” or “what do you mean by It runs into the family?”
Either way this talk is long from over XD
Well, he didn’t actually hear that part, it was part of the flashback. All she probably said was the part about hearing them in his room and talking to his father about it.
Your mother is… NOT ready to tell her son just yet.
Oh i so wish i was good with gif’s i would be blowing up the page with prison break and the flash ones with all the ” I have a plan” responses Brandon has been dropping.
That being said cause of said plan and hints i see the reveal going one of two ways
1. Something happens with shadow ware she figures out who Ruth really is and Ruth reveals it to Tim before shadow does
2. Something happens in NOX and Ruth reveals herself to Tim so he knows she isnt lying about the info aka Shadow being in trouble
“… i would be blowing up the page…” at which time Brandon would be justified in ceasing publication & we all mss out.
I only keep reassuring people I have a plan, because I feel there are a lot of people questioning that fact and telling me this is a great time to reveal it… but I check my notes and my way seems much cooler than telling him over dinner.
Well, “cooler” is always desirable as long as it doesn’t make less sense. To call a spade a spade.
I mean, the root cause for this kind of reader anxiety IMO is that far too many authors suffer from watching far too many cartoon style works (a gag per episode, little to no continuity). By now overcoming it completely takes about Tom Siddell’s level of plot turns (you know, when readers are joking “I guessed it will be this, so it’s probably something else entirely” or “but we all have cliffhanger addiction here, right?”).
I feel that it’s unreasonable to expect Brandon to vary from his previously-plotted drama (which was originally a novella years ago) for “reader anxiety” caused by “too many authors” suffering from “cartoon style” works.
You’re probably right in the degradation of readers’ attention span generally and the “I want it all and I want it NOW” syndrome but Brandon cannot fix that and shouldn’t change his style or ‘the plan’ because of that, either
Haha, I feel like sometimes some people just want to jump right to the end. I could just post a page full of really tiny writing detailing the entire plot in point form all the way to the end and just get it over with and kill any tension or something, but I won’t be doing that.
Some people DO.
Don’t cater to such mental illness.
Of course. Even more of the readers suffer from watching far too many cartoon style works. And other cultural phenomena “by the caffeinated squirrels, for the caffeinated squirrels”.
Otherwise the opposite trends would probably win, seeing how many book authors attached to their settings have failed to structure their output better than a single infinite series. And likely “advance the plooot” would be received about as well as “braaains” even by the Pointy Haired Ones. :]
Tom & Jerry style can be good, Rashomon style can be good, so do slice-of-life, travelogs, etc. But the format easily becomes a separate meme irrelevant to the content and can run it over instead of serving to present it.
There was a web comic a long time ago that did this.
They guy had to quit publishing so rather than just leave everything hanging the last page was his entire outline detailing everything that was going to happen in the story.
Clearly not what you want to do, unless like in these circumstances something forces you to stop and you want to at least give your fans answers.
Mushroom Go?
Winner winner chicken dinner! I’m honestly shocked someone knew the comic I was talking about. I don’t think that ever had a big following. I liked it though.
If something ever happened to prevent me from continuing the comic, I would never leave you guys hanging and would find some way to let you know what happens. Somehow.
Honey its time we come clean. You’re right, your mother is-… a very lovely woman
At this point, I really don’t understand why she would not reveal it. This is just needlessly dragging out the drama.
Yeah I mean it feels like a good time to me..
(Also hi Nyerguds)
He must learn to put 2 and 2 together soon-ish.
Math is hard though, and he only has enough blood to use one head at a time.
“Hah! I bet you thought I was going to reveal Ruth was a monster! FOOOLED YOU!!” It’s just a matter of time. Either Mom and Dad will reveal it or Shadow will.
Because we all know that the Shadow knows. (Let’s see who figures out what that means or where it comes from.)
“Who knows what EVIL lurks in the heart of men?”
The ME TOO movement knows!!!
Dang! You beat me to it!😠
Boomers do that!
Noxian woman
Stay away from me
Noxian woman
Mama, let me be
Don’t come hangin’ ’round my door
I don’t wanna see your face no more
I got more important things to do
Than spend my time growin’ old with you
Now woman, stay away
Noxian woman, listen what I say
Ruth’s truth is like a great staircase. One step at a time or Timmy-boy falls and breaks his mind..
Ruth is a wife and a mother. Where did you get the idea she might be a monster? LOL
Sadly she only had Tim as child.
I hope the reveal comes soon. She already decided to do it. And shadow hinted at him when she said it’s impossible for him to live like a normal person. Which he asked her to elaborate with no actual response
Lady Blackheart (Ruth) would probably be less-than-upset if Nightmare can drag Wormy Termy’s attention AWAY from his proposal of marriage-slavery to Shadow, her protege.
Of course, her two men, Tom & Tim, will first need to neutralise Wormy Termy’s plans for WORLD DOMINATION and SUBJUGATION of HUMANS!
Nightmare would then be welcome to Terminus’s twitching, whimpering remains as he faces the Noxian equivalent of a tial for murder of his High Lord Pax.When that happened (Page 171), it was during a full-on shouting fight between them. They weren’t even trying to keep their voices down (not to wake Tim’s parents, which they did).
Ultimately passions on both sides were so high that I just don’t believe that Shadow had this or any other consideration in her mind. {I’ve been in such shouting matches.}
When do you claim that Tim asked Shadow to explain what she had said? It certainly wasn’t on Page 173.
Sorry Brandon posted into an earlier comment in error

Well, considering she’s going to have to save Shadow from state worse than death…
I think Ruth should tell her son and husband the truth.
Her husband already knows the truth, no question.
He’s probably known the truth for decades, who knows how long its been since he first found out
Besides, she’s been in her Noxian form infront of him before
