Shadow’s response may just have been to an unexpected intimacy with erotic overtones, rather than to a sado-masochistic approach.

Will Nightmare now drop Terminus right in it by telling Moonlight that it was, in fact, Terminus that killed Lord Pax rather than Mortis? She could also reveal the location of Mortis, claiming that Terminus had forced her into secrecy, which would also expose Terminus’ story of Mortis running away as a lie. Even if Terminus tried to point the finger at Nightmare, who would believe him?
Well, Mortis (assuming he is alive) would probably remember he was knocked out from behind while confronting Terminus.
But then, Nightmare could be too angry to care about this.
I expected this to happen right after he went for Shadow. But now, who knows?
Very true, although Nightmare’s crime is relatively minor compared to those of Terminus (and Shadow’s for that matter). I don’t doubt that she would claim coercion in mitigation.

It’s certainly implied in pages 295 & 296 (Historical interaction between Ruth and Moonlight) but Brandon was more explicit in off-page conversations.

I Do remember thèse two pages. I feel IT is more like a taboo than something written like a law anyway. I was wondering more about the système of the law and of régulations.
