They’re decorative shoulder pieces on Shadow’s favourite cape (oor cloak) & can be seen in Panels 3 &3 of the very first page!
In terms of mediaevel armour these pieces are called “pauldrons”.

Has anyone else noticed that on the last panel he looks like cloud from final fantasy?
Tim has always had that anime hair with spikes, Cloud may have played a small factor in his design, FF being a huge influence on me my whole life.
Just for a moment, I thought Midnight’s boobs had grown spikes in the last panel!

I really thought he would comment about the cloak smelling like Shadow. Then Midnight coming back with “You should know very well.” Or has the spare cloak lost it’s essence.
He might be too distracted by the mission to notice, but I’m sure subconsciously it’s fueling his desire to rescue her.
I established some time ago that Noxians don’t actually smell… which is silly on it’s surface, but whatever. Maybe they do have a smell, but cannot detect each other?
Or it’s not as obvious to humans as human scent is to Noxians (Noxian olfactory senses being better than that of humans).
It could also explain why humans haven’t detected that Noxians have been visiting them in the night – no anomalous scent traces to possibly alert them to unknown intruders.
