These false (or are they?) positives are known to be a thing, it’s only “weird” if you get two at once. This suggests several interesting possibilities.

So, Nightmare is about to hear Termite has a new envoy. I’m sure that won’t lead to violence.
But also, plot hole. Noxians are supposed to sense human fear with arousal. If the girls aegis picked up Tims fear, why didn’t they?
Because not only they were not expecting and looking for it, but also got distracted? Midnight (who had a reason to expect) may have picked up the “smell” of thrills, however.
Besides, Tim knows he needs to use Shadow’s lessons while at Nox. And even not counting focus on controlling himself, his wariness competes with fun of “Halloween” mischief, abundance of pretty girls and trying to not ogle those pretty girls excessively. So the kind of a thrill he was having at this point maybe does not even stand out all that much?
I figure only the arousal of hybrids messes with the aegis, since wasn’t there suspicion about Shadow’s performance? Tim doesn’t scare easily but he was just afraid of getting caught now, so his fear registered.
Moonie found Shadow’s suddenly increasing results suspicious because it went much the same way with Ruth (#064).
It seems not purely fear focused, but any sort of thrills or even any emotions at all may work well enough.
Either way, the performance-by-emotions function of Aegis is not necessarily the same as the sensitivity-by-emotions function of living Noxian tele-empathic sense.
Not his arousal, theirs. Human fear is a Noxian (Noxious?) aphrodisiac. Look at chapter 2, pages 43, 46 and 54. Then check Tims face on the last couple pages. S&G should have felt at least a low buzz from that encounter.
It’s been so long I forgot Noxians get pleasure out of fear and the whole “scaring humans” thing was just how their society worked. As for Tim being found out I thought his smell in general would give him away, the aegis reaction snuck up on me after he seemed to be in the clear.
Even if Tim’ s real body is the one of a Man. Hé us half Noxian. He shouldn’t be producing a positive, I think.

Tim, being a human-Noxian hybrid (or mongrel), would produce a muted response on an aegis, whether it’s menta-l or scent-based.
Incidentally, where is the in-comic authority {page numbers please} for the opinion that humans produce a scent (aroma, stench) detectable by Noxian noses?
They have enhanced ears, but cute, little button noses.
Why? Either way, obviously he did produce great aegis output for Shadow. So much that it was suspicious.
