It now makes me begin to wonder what their relationship is like at this early stage. Is Tim just some pet project (for lack of a better term) for Shadow? Is he a curious thing to figure out (and get free cookies from)? What is the status of their friendship and how will that develop into an intimate relationship.
I suspect that Shadow is good at making excuses to see Tim but just like Tim is, she’s beginning to feel an attraction but, unlike Tim, isn’t willing to to admit it (even to herself).
In a way she reminds me of early days of Parley and Andrew of Gunnerkrigg Court (if you adjust for the fact that Parley and Andrew are older). If you don’t read GC, you can get the gist of the early days from these two strips.
Well.. Looks like Tim will be a lefty for at least 2 weeks, he can practice doing the “stranger”. The hole next to the thumb will be a tiny scar for years.
You know, I Picture their world more like M. C. Escher The Stairs with claw-like runes, kinda like the Skyrim Dragon Language all over the place.
I actually originally imagined it something like that myself… but I’ll be damned if I’m going to draw that over and over again. Now I consider it more like Labyrinth. An inaccessible maze of paths that seemingly changes all by itself as if it were somehow self-aware. The monster characters can navigate it easily enough though using some highly-developed sense of direction, whereas an unguided human would get lost almost right away.
Aww. I gotta admit I’m a BIT disappointed with the time skip, but hey. Still great comic. And hell, with the way you write we’ll probably learn the details of what happened between the three kids in little bits later on anyhow. 🙂
I can foresee Mid coming to talk to Tim In the future and thinking him weird… but who is to be introduced next? Mother? The closet monsters? Or possibly a monster who like neither Shadow or Midnight? Only time can tell… whatever it may be I applaud you once again Brandon on another great page that leaves me in suspense.
Said of the guy who was strong enough to restrain Middy single-handedly and clever enough get the drop on another monster with a trap. Totally harmless!
I read all of your original text stories that this comic is based on. This comic is totally better, both in terms of writing and just plain moving things along. I can’t wait until the next set of plot points happens!
I think I am going to laugh if it turns out mother easy going about the whole thing when its found out… Ex especially if mother turns out to be amused and trolling about it.
I take a good view of this monkeyshine.
This human boy is not some piece of slime.
I have an interest in this humankind.
Because he’s mine, I cross the line.
I find it quite delightful to pursue.
I find it good to make this rendezvous.
And all I ask is that you take the cue.
Because he’s mine, I cross the line.
You maybe might not find this very bright.
You can condemn and then you can indict.
But don’t betray my secret, dear Midnight.
Because he’s mine, I cross the line.
I’ve got to keep you on my better side.
I’ll learn a lot and he will be my guide.
If you don’t talk, then I’ll be satisfied.
Because he’s mine, I cross the line.
Give me hope, just give me any sign.
There will be cookies in it all the time.
Tell me we’ve got a meeting of the minds.
Because he’s mine, I cross the line.
Ahh, the old “bring back cookies to ensure monster silence” technique. Works every time.
Something like that! XD
now buying all cookies I can get my hand on, monster army here I come!
Oh! If only, eh?

You’ll have to stay tuned! 😉

Strip 1
Strip 2
Sorry that should be “see Tim but, just like…”
And just like those two, she does find an awful lot of reasons to put her arms around Tim.

Tim’s gonna try to got to the demon/monster ‘world’ isn’t he?
Heh, someday.

Exactly! I’m not leaving you guys totally clueless. I’ll fill you in given time.
It’s obvious that Shadow hasn’t read The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.
The correct answer is “MOSTLY harmless”. (Grin)
Nah, “Harmless” was the initial description too, Ford updated it after spending time on Earth. So, give it a few years lol. 😉
This is true! While Shadow may not have read it yet, I have. 😉
Instead of “later” it should be “10 boxes of cookies later” XD
Haha, perhaps I’ll use that someday!

Probably the next introduction will feature more than one character. 😉 Expect multiple folks to start dropping in soon enough.
Tim, harmless? Naw, he isn’t. He befriended a cute monster girl with cookies! 😛
He’s like the John McClane of befriending monster girls.
“He’s harmless!”

Thank you! And you’re right of course. She thinks he’s harmless but of course, that’s not exactly the case.
Well atleast she cares about his health
True, it’s a start. 😉
Cookie bribery awesome.
Also humans are never harmless.

XD Who knows?
I thought Midnight and Shadow are in a relationship.
They are in a relationship; it’s just not intimate. They are best friends and partners within the Bed Bugs program for Young Monsters.

Haha, I like that on a lot! XD
