It will, it follows generally the same plot, I’m just expanding on a few unexplored concepts in the comic.

The OTHER secret has put her in the position of possibly expecting this kind of jump from Shadow.

for some reason, mother feels like a certain other mother from this series
Reading through this a few times, I’m starting to think that Momster isn’t speaking of herself, but maybe of her own actual child? I can’t really tell her age, but it seems as though Momster would have a few decades of leadership in the guild, so thinking of a jump like this from her own time as a Bedbug may not be right.
And I can’t form a coherent thought today….
True, she has been in the guild a long time, but she’s only been High-Mother for… oh, maybe 9 or 10 years at this point. There was another Mother before her who appointed her as the next heir, so to speak. We’ll be seeing this very element come into play soon enough, in one form or another.
Shadow as High Mother, that is a scary thought! So is having Midnight as High Mother.
