Maybe you didn’t plan it that way, but it seems like that’s the result many of your fans are expecting. Though you gotta admit, blonde hair swoosh, extra powerful fear energy from Tim, mom has an uncanny ability to detect her sweet stuff being stolen, and Lady Blackheart exhibited the exact same energy surges as Shadow and we already know how that turned out. Forget Chekhov’s Gun I call that “Chekhov’s Arsenal” right there.
Not necessarily. There are places and ways to hide that Tail. Though more likely than that. It’s actually Shadow’s Mom. And well.. She’s got her own Husband. Probably ends up turning out she left Shadow and didn’t have involvement with her life to try and avoid endangering her, or encouraging her unintentionally to follow the same path and surprise. Shadow followed the same path on her own.
If that is the Case.. Wonder what was shadow’s Mom’s bait? Oreos? Maybe Fig Newtons? Fig Newtons may not be Oreos or Chips Ahoy but they’re still Awesome. Also they don’t require the glass of Milk nearly as much as Oreos or Chips Ahoy.
Don’t take this wrong, but I always find it silly when people asks about incoming events or story, it’s like they’re trying to auto-spoilerize themselves.
It would also be silly of the author to reveal what’s about to happen..
I can’t see Tim’s Mom being any biological relation to anyone but Tim.
As for Lady Blackheart, it’s a big Universe, or rather, Multiverse, which means either Tim or or our favorite girlie, or both, are likely to stumble into her, in the future.
So, an interesting development to the future plot, for sure, but given that we are working from a known future point back through immediate history, we can assume Shadow becomes quite powerful into her late teens.
This then begs the obvious question, of course.
Should exposure to certain suitable humans improve one’s standing and abilities in the Shadow Realm, will others follow Shadow’s example?
Furthermore, will other contacts and developments be with suitable humans, or will it turn to tears and require some form of redress?
I would consider these scenarios more likely than Tim’s Mom being anything other than Tim’s Mom.
It’s been ages since I reviewed one of your comics.
I love how it has all been shaping up. Speculation is running wild, but I don’t think Tim’s mother is “Lady Blackheart”. Lady Blackheart is someone else entirely, I’m betting. Whoever Lady Blackheart is or was, clearly something happened to her that prevents her from returning to Nox. But anyway; I love the glimpses we have been getting of Nox. Clearly it is a sort of “parallel world” to Earth, existing on a different universe altogether. A world still organized into guilds and divided by fiefdoms, that is completely subterranean. I imagine Nox and Earth have some sort of a deeper history.
Perhaps Nox is sort of Earth’s cross-dimensional twin, and the denizens of Nox are the source of many of humanity’s ancient fears and stories of monsters and demons.
I’m I the only one that thinks ‘Monstermom’ and ‘Lady Blackheart’ are sister? I am basing my theory on the fact that the both of them have the same tail desing, as Brandon keep mentioning over & over again.
also Tim’s face is lit up and Shadow is in the dark.. no reflection. then Tim is looking away from the screen ,,(( some thing gave her away,,, could be any thing, : : ))
Look like to me Aegis doesn’t record only fear but all emotion. And love is really a strong one!
Probably why Lady Blackheart run away. She maybe had to choose between her hearth and duty.
Actually I seriously doubt Aegis records anything other than fear. Thing is the fear of being with someone you care about (especially when your younger) is far stronger than a shock scare that fades quickly. I would like to point out page 43 through 46. Tims fear(of seeing Shadow as a girl) actually made her dizzy. (By the makers… his fear is… *gulp* so strong…) So I think it would be safe to theorize Blackheart’s boost in ability (and possible desertion) was due to love.
I would say torture.
pop out, give a roar and smack the kid around a bit really rough (slapping punching and kicking. but nothing to rouse suspicion from the parents. a small bruise here, a cut there, normal “kid accidents” and that kid is stared to death every night. (I guess physical harm is a taboo in their world since people (much like alien and big foot hunters) will gather and start a hunt fueled by their beliefs – a witch hunt
best case scenario, yes it is forbidden love between 2 different beings each from a different world…. slipspace, shadow thing…… phtt
Once people find out their children are being abused, it’s gonna be more than a simple witch hunt.
They love the kick human fear gives them, but I bet they like it when it’s normal fear, not fearful rage, because a person shrieking in fright is probably more heady than a person screaming as they charge you with a knife.
Everyone is harping on who Lady Blackheart is, but I find it more interesting that Mother refers to Shadow as her ‘darkest angel’. Why? Nightmare has been set up as the best student of their clan/family/whatever. So what exactly makes Shadow so special?
I think Brandon said a little while ago (I think in the comments), that Shadow was adopted. It makes sense that she would have a special affection for her adopted daughter.
I wonder if Shadow is Lady Blackheart’s daughter.
Also, do the monsters have a religion? She refers to Shadow as: ‘my darkest angel,’ so is that something they borrowed from humans, or their own religion
They don’t have a religion. They talk of “The Makers” with some reverence, as if they are some sort of God-like entities; however, they do not worship them.
The other interesting possibility is that Lady Blackheart is Ruthie’s mother. I have often wondered about how Ruthie seemed to have a telekinetic knowledge of her husband’s raiding her snacks. Whatever the truth is, I am looking forward to Ruthie meeting Shadow for the first time.
Is Tim’s mother “Lady Blackheart”? Just asking.
I dunno~! *exaggerated shrug*

I’m not NOT saying it could be true, I’m just not confirming anything either way.
page eleven kind of destroys any chance of Tim’s mom being “Lady Blackheart” with that close up…
Not necessarily. There are places and ways to hide that Tail. Though more likely than that. It’s actually Shadow’s Mom. And well.. She’s got her own Husband. OH yes the mother this is perfect. Keep up the great work I mean fun 🙂

We’ll just have to wait and see how it turns out later!

I love how Brandon refuses to confirm or deny anything. It’s rather fun.
I could just start saying that every theory is correct and let you folks duke it out until the reveal… 😉
Wow!, I didn’t mean to cause such a turmoil online guys. Nice to know Great minds think alike!
I’m I the only one that thinks ‘Monstermom’ and ‘Lady Blackheart’ are sister? I am basing my theory on the fact that the both of them have the same tail desing, as Brandon keep mentioning over & over again.
Haha, yeah, that IS kinda weird though. Why would I do that?! XD
Why DO people think this ‘Lady Blackheart’ is Ruth?
They have blonde hair, and Ruth has a ‘sweet sense’. Is that all?
Also, I think I know how Shadow screwed up in the very first page of this Webcomic.
Laptop screens don’t reflect things very well in the dark while they are running. 😉
Tim actually just knew she was behind him, due to the long experience of knowing her by then.
That may be, but the darker borders on this website itself are quite reflective.
also Tim’s face is lit up and Shadow is in the dark.. no reflection. then Tim is looking away from the screen ,,(( some thing gave her away,,, could be any thing, : : ))

Also, you can be a little afraid of the fact that your love is a demon like creature and still find it sexy.
I know I would.

gritty or lovey-dovey, explore all options.
Once people find out their children are being abused, it’s gonna be more than a simple witch hunt.
They love the kick human fear gives them, but I bet they like it when it’s normal fear, not fearful rage, because a person shrieking in fright is probably more heady than a person screaming as they charge you with a knife.
It’d devolve into a war.
What the heck are you guys talking about?! X(
Or it could just be humane management of livestock, dont bruise the food source.
Hey Brandon, what does Mother think of Humans? If Shadow told her that she is friends with a human, how would Mother react?
Badly. °~°
Everyone is harping on who Lady Blackheart is, but I find it more interesting that Mother refers to Shadow as her ‘darkest angel’. Why? Nightmare has been set up as the best student of their clan/family/whatever. So what exactly makes Shadow so special?

They know that the Makers are not Gods.

All will be explained in time!
I think I know why she won.. there’s footage from inside of Timmy’s head when he “found out” Shadow is a girl: http://i.imgur.com/QomuCDx.webm
“I found this one human kid who’s a bloody fear goldmine.”Bam. Done. Don’t even have to cook up a lie.
I’ve just started this comic, it looks interesting.
I’m calling it, Lady Blackheart is Tim’s mom.
