#77 “Do You See Me?”
Oh look; feels.
Yes, we return to the past yet again! I wonder what everyone will get up to this time?
Some of you will be happy to note that I’ve gone back and added captions to certain key pages giving a clear notion of what time frame the proceeding pages fall into. It should hopefully remedy any confusion from here on out.
aaah even monsters girls need a hug at times
Yep! More often than you might imagine!
Eggshells, Tim ol’boy, eggshells.
This… right after sniffing his socks.
I imagine it’s been a day or so since, of course, she most likely sniffs them everyday. XD
Hey, not to complain but Tim looks like his 18 year old self still. Sorry
Some others said something about that in the earlier pages. I think he replied with an explanation why they look the same. It doesn’t stop me from enjoying this comic.
Round face, no Adam’s apple detail, more hair spikes, bigger eyes, way thinner in the shoulders… hmmm… nope. I don’t see it.
So…are we back in the past or still in the future?
It looks like the past to me.
Oh, yeah…it *does* say “10 Years Ago” at the top…
It says the past in the description.
I love how she’s starts the hand holding and hugging. Let’s see if Tim can be comforting.
I know, right? XD
My big brother instincts are kicking in. Just want to hug her and comfort her like I would my little sister.
Yay! Empathy triggered! I’m doing something right! 🙂
Sure she’s a good girl. But wait until Tim hits Puberty then he’ll want a naughty girl. XD
I’m certain that won’t be a problem. ;-P
I agree with Merku 200%!
My response: Yes, you are a good girl. But are you a good Shadow? What kind of person do you want to be?
My response continued if this happened after January 5, 2016: There’s something I want to you watch. (Puts in Kung Fu Panda: Secrets of the Scroll. Continues talking after the movie and getting her reaction). You are like Tigress. From what you’ve told me, you’re not like the others. Do you want to be who you are, or what they want you to become?
It’s a good response, but I wonder how Tim will react? XD
Wait, I forgot; what year is the past and present (approximately)? Is there a kids movie with a similar message from before that time?
Here’s some other movies I can think of. There’s Disney’s Brave, Ratatouille, Wreck-It Ralph, Mulan, and Aladdin. [Looks up other movies]. Billy Elliot, What a Girl Wants, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (how did I forget Dumbledore’s Choices speech?), Shrek (how’d I forget that as well?)… Lots of good choices to show how the best person you can become is yourself!
The times are purposely vague. All I can say is that the past occurs after the 1980’s.
Found a few more ‘be yourself’ movies: 1995 Babe, Happy Feet, How to Train Your Dragon (imagine Toothless as a human girl with orange-red hair and his draconian skin), and Kung Fu Panda (I forgot the scroll’s message: to be the best, be yourself).
I think you already know. LOL. However, if I may give Tim some advice. Always remember, Tim, anytime a woman, whether the woman is 8 or 80, that kind of question requires clarification. In other words, you should say something like, “What brought this on?” Plus, you should make sure that Shadow knows you are truly concerned with what’s wrong with her.
Drivernjax: I completely agree. But kids aren’t always that smart, and he already asked. I was trying to answer as if I was between 8 and 10. I remember being asked, a lot, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” My response was based on that question. As long as you don’t lose yourself, you will live with the least regrets.
And if the future is any sign, he answered her correctly.
“I see you Jake Sully.”
XD
is theree going to be a new vote picture any time soon? just curious.
I really should get on that soon, yeah.
Like most, I wonder how Tim will react and love to check this comic every week for the next update.
Thanks for following my story! 🙂
It was a nighttime, ten years ago,
Somehow his Shadow had suffered a blow.
He let her say it,
She had to say it,
She never worried before…
“Am I good?
Am I good?
Aren’t my tears telling you what they should?
I’ve got to ask you if I’m good,
So, if you understood,
With each word,
If you heard…
If I could.
There was a day
When I was a happy girl.
But now I say,
A bad and crappy girl…
Was all right,
Until tonight.
I don’t stand where I stood.
Am I good?”
—from “Am I Blue?” A lotta people, but written by Harry Akst and Grant Clarke in 1929.
Loving that first panel, you can tell it’s night but you still got darker shadows on Shadow, instead of just leaving it all dark tinted, giving some heavy emotional weight to it.
On a side note due to the positioning of our two leads my tired mind, for some reason, thought it was a hospital scene. Would Shadow even be able to use a hospital style bed for her traveling?
It has wheels, so maybe not. They don’t cast very much shadow either, since they are so high off the ground.
…I now have the image of Shadow struggling to hold onto the bottom of a speeding hospital bed stuck in my head…
or worse, trapped beneath a platform bed.
I must say, and I hope poeple read this panel 1 and 2 has THE BEST SHADEING I have seen up to this point. Panel 1 is the best… THE BEST panel in the whole series. I honestly felt I was reading a batman comic or something dark. Outstanding. I am convinced that those 2 panel took up the most time in this page and probably contributed to how minimal the page is.
The minimal look to this particular page is reminiscent of chapter 1’s night scenes, as there is currently no light source turned on to lend any highlights, rendering it ‘flat’. Oh, and yes, the shadows in the first to panels were fairly time consuming this week. Thanks for noticing!
By any chance, will you be posting the oringal line art on facebook? So far none of this chapter are up.
Maybe. I accidentally saved over one of my work files when I was setting up last weeks page (and it’s not the first time) so that page is lost to the abyss I’m afraid. Only the final version remains. Some of them I was just keeping close to my chest, as I didn’t want to give even a hint of what was coming up.
