They’re playing on a SNES, so it must be after August 1991; there’s a NES below it and the Super Mario World cartridge is the original one (not the Super Mario All-Stars), so I assume this was before 1994. The VHS and cathode TV with buttons straight on the TV are typical from the early 90s, too.
Not sure about the level, though… Chocolate Island?
And with that, I throw down the gauntlet (no, not the game).
Roberts song for this chapter has to be “Forever Gamer” by Skymarshal Arts.
Its on youtube.
It was said a long time ago that this was set in the 90s (at least the childhood bits). His father runs a photographic studio and film processing place (not a business that would work well these days). His mother seems to be a housewife.
Ohhh I see what you did there…….
Love the comic btw.I know it gets old if every week someone says how much they love this comic, but i have to tell you because you deserve all the praise you get and possibly more. And I hate that there isn’t more i can criticize you for than your upload rate(and I understand the reasons for that). The wait kills me every week.
But thank you for this amazing comic and giving me one of the highlights of my week.
Wait, it´s strip # 99! Maybe there is something special coming up for # 100? This would be some kind of jubilee too.
Brandon, you keep us hanging on a tense line!
Oh now yer just tunting us lol
MOO-WAH-HA-HA-HAHA-HAAAH!
Like father, like son :^)
OK thats just evil. Downright ruthless even.
BWAHAHA! YES! YEEEES!
You could say it’s monstrous.
Drop drop drop.
Something tells me he got that wish fulfilled. Probably repeatedly once he and Shadow got a bit older.

Is this ’92 or ’93?

It could be anytime after that. It could have been yesterday. I have all of these things still in working order right now! 😉

Ah a Super Nintendo on top of an NES
Heh, yup! Pretty much the best configuration for several years.
I came here to read a comic and im feeling so attacked right now.
Attacked?
Hitting me with 3 cliff hangers in a row constitutes as attacked lol
Ooh… well, I think this is going to be some sort of abusive relationship, in that case. I don’t wanna be the bad guy here! XD
Something tells me that his mom or dad is working with restoring old systems, like vhs, snes etc etc, just have to say, thats more then cool :3

Personally, yes, I do think she’s some kind of monster.
Well, it’s come up on these boards a lot.
She’s a Monster IN a bed… confirmed.
Honestly at this point I’m hoping it turns out to be a major red herring, or that she is one, just not the one important to the comic…
