Shadow makes a cute human! I have to wonder if his mom will question why there’s a cute girl around named Shadow though. x3
Also…perhaps this is a hint that the yellow lady’s true identity happens to be Tim’s mom. 😉
There are speculations (comments to prior comics) that Lord Mortis is Shadow’s father. We know Shadow was basically left on Lady Moonlight’s doorstep as a baby; we don’t know any circumstances prior to that. Therefore no one has any idea why Mortis avoids claiming paternity, IF he is Shadow’s father.
Was looking for something to do and saw something that reminded me of this comic. Found it after a quick search and reread it from the beginning since I wasn’t quite sure where I had left off. I’ll remember to add this to my list of webcomics to check weekly this time.
I think the reason I and some others don’t like her face is that it seems off model in the reveal panel compared to her normal face. We were expecting a rounder and less oval face like she usually has. It might just be her hair or something about the angle. However if you look at her smile with the hood up it looks more like her normal head shape.
Ah, she’s smiling, and that changes her jaw line a bit, and yeah her ‘up-do’ might be throwing people off. I dunno. Check out the gallery for another picture of her now.
the one in the gallery looks way closer to what i expected. and looking at the both i can say its definitely the head shape. I think its how the side locks of her hair frame her face in this picture. It makes her head seem more oval.
Because your style is more cartoony (nothing wrong with that btw) there are fewer features to identify a character by so I think the more oval face pushed her into uncanny valley turf.
That might be why a few people couldn’t tell if she was wearing a full rubber mask or if that was her face.
Anyway don’t let it bother you. Im sure its just this one frame.
Of course. Her son has the interest of a cute girl, what mom wouldnt be proud?
And Shadow has her own take of Sunnys profile in panel 3. Not surprising with who did her makeover
I notice a slight glow around our favorite little monster. I seam to recall blackheart poking fun at Moony for glowing. I am going to assume its somehow connected with transformation (being evidence that moony alters her appearance). Though Ruths lack of glow does throw a bit of a wrench in that. You know, or it could just be the lights shadow is standing under.
Hey found my way over from an adult site, like many here from what I’ve gathered. Vice-Admiral Ruthless cookies bring all the boys to the site as it were though getting lost in the shadows wouldn’t be bad either lol. I haven’t followed web comics in a while but considering I’ve read yours four times now I’ve changed that, Sunday is going to be a long wait. It’s well drawn and the story hovers between giving me cavities and driving me nuts with theories. I am also glad to see you upped Tim and Shadow’s initial meeting age to 12 from 8, it’s far more accurate with their level of innocent playfulness/flirting and budding interests and curiosities. As for theories yeah I’m in the Ruth is Blackheart camp, though I have the feeling due to her “mistakes” she’s forced/cursed to stay in human form in the human realm and can only maintain her form and existence in Nox for short periods due to effort required. Though I’m sure Blackheart has other reasons for her interests in finding her son a nice monster girl, like future proper half breed children, lost legends surrounding such things and I’m sure some kind of sealed away evil, looking at you Terminus on that last one. I am torn though for I have found your written stories on Deviantart but have yet to read them because SPOILERS even loosely based ones and this comic seems to be your ideal vision and idea for those stories and I kind of want to enjoy it that way first. Keep up the good work and looking forward to Sunday.
Remember the book? Clearly Ruthless gave her a short tutorial. As for limitations, who knows. Since Ruthless is apparently maintaining a stable existence in human world, the transformation probably requires a second spell to remove.
It occurs to me to ask Brandon about Shadow’s voice. If she is transformed from Nox to Human, then her voice might have changed to something Tim won’t recognize. And if her voice didn’t change, then that means Shadow should be able to recognize whether or not Tim’s mom and Lady Blackheart sound alike…. Based on what we discussed in the previous comic, I’m guessing you need to conclude that Shadow’s voice is different here, than what Tim is used to hearing….
Besides the possibility of recognizing Lady Blackheart’s voice when Tim’s mom speaks, Shadow is also in a position to recognize that the two women have the same hair color, and have moles in the same place on their cheeks…..

WHY YOUUU?!!?!?
That would… uh… that’d actually make a lot of sense.
I actually thought the exact same thing, that Tim’s mom is actually Lady Blackheart!
Still, I love it. I have a very creepy feeling about Lord Mortis, though…

MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!
That is all.
@I’lleatyourself This was my conclusion about six pages back.
Tbf, that look’s a bit over the top. She’s cuter when she’s her normal self.
You expected less out of Blackheart?
*shocked gasp*

You just don’t have practice doing it, next page should be better.

She looks cute, like a doll 😀
Timothy’s mom is Blackheart. I called it, so I get all the credit. I’m about 80% that she is. Everything just fits.
Haha, you and just about everyone else has called it at some point, I think by now. XD
NOT ME!I’m standing strong!!!…not hard 😉 (I need to get myself a book about how to make jokes)
Blackheart has Timothy mother’s hair, just like Shadow has her own hair in her normal form. Slightly different style but same color.
Just look at his mother’s face, that is a look of triumph.
Of course. Her son has the interest of a cute girl, what mom wouldnt be proud?

Wow, she pulls of the human look good; I was expecting something “see-through”
…you do realise she’s 12 here,right?
So????
You DO realise that “she” is a FICTIONAL character in a comic?
Or can you not understand that that difference mattters?

I wonder if Shadow’s fellow monsters can also change themselves to look human.
