#127 “Trick or Treat”
Always remember to say trick or treat kids! It seems to be going by the wayside the past few years!
Oh, and I’ve updated the Fan Art gallery with a few new pieces! Take a look in the menu above!

this is so cute
Glad I found this comic! Lovin’ your work man!
HA! You can a have all of mine, Shadow.
Hah, she will be happy to oblige you, so beware!
The Sugar Rush will be Strong with this Young One.
Ah, the trials of not growing up in a culture. I am wondering, though, about the significance of the sparkles in her eyes in that last panel. If she lost concentration and became monstrous-looking, perhaps that would qualify as a “good trick” and earn a batch of candy!
It’s just excitement. She’s done this before in a page or two. 😉
Daman, her faces are so cute ! So let me guess, Shadow will see/talk to some kids around next time ?
Possibly!
LOL.
KEK.
Yaaaaay, back to Tim and Shadow! Haha, Shadow doesn’t quite have the hang of it yet. I mean, when you say “trick or treat” what you’re ACTUALLY saying is “give me free candy!”, but it’s still important to observe the tradition. There’s a protocol to these things.
It’s even MORE basic than that.
Essentially it’s a form of blackmail.
CHILD: I will perform a “trick” on you or your loved ones (nailing your cat to the front door, setting alight your hydrangeas) unless you buy me off with a “treat”.
American children are apparently taught the basic skills of threat and intimidation at an early age.
Meh, most of the kids that do the tricks (which mainly consist of throwing toilet paper all over your house or eggs all over your car) don’t bother to ask for treats first and most of the kids that do ask for treats wouldn’t actually resort to tricks if you refused. But in the traditional sense, you’re right.
Ha ! He’s not lying, she IS “foreign” after all 😀
Also, I suspect a huge sugar rush once the night is over. Shadow might even corrupt Midnight with all those candies, I’m guessing !
My mum one year handed out a mix of tricks and treats. Teenagers (15+) got tricks in the form of rocks, little ones got treats of candy and those with goofy costumes, like a charlie brown ghost, got both.
That street lamp on panel 3 had me doing a double take.
And yes, she has much to learn. I’m wondering if she will pick up on how awkward she is making Tim feel.
Did someone say [Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of The Windseeker]?
Ahhh… another reference that goes completely over my head!
Aw adorable, and just a bit too eager. Though she does know exactly what she wants.
Is that her tail sneaking out behind her in the last panel, or or just a bit of similarly shaped background?
No, she doesn’t have a tail in human form! 😉
So the Magic Book actually changes her physical structure and just not her appearance?
Street lamp
A lot of kids don’t even bother to dress up these days. They just walk around in normal clothes expecting candy. I only give candy to the kids who give the effort.
Hehehe. Come to think of it, I haven’t heard much of kids saying trick or treat in recent years
But then… most of the kids have been either tiny toddlers or look like they probably don’t speak english.
