#149 “Family”
And so, Chapter 3 comes to a close… and the real story begins!
Here’s a major ‘Thank you!’ to everybody for following along with the little one-man show I’ve been putting on these past 3 years, I can’t imagine I would have ever gotten this far into this project without your support and love along the way! I do it for you guys!
That being said, I have to tell you all that I am going to take a break from the comic for a little while. Now, don’t worry! I’m not going on indefinite hiatus or anything like that, I simply need a bit of a vacation to refresh myself. As you are probably aware, the schedule has been rather tenuous at best lately, and I feel I am creatively fatigued, and lately physically so.
Last week, due to whatever circumstance, my drawing hand/wrist was causing me problems (tiredness, numbness), perhaps due to over-exertion at both my day job (factory work) and working on the comic too. It lasted nearly a week, however, today everything seems to be okay again. *phew* I’ll be monitoring the situation in the meantime, and acting accordingly.
Over the break, I will not be gone away. I’ll be working a bit behind the scenes, planning and scripting, and, yes, even building up a buffer without the pressure of a time constraint. Perhaps I’ll do a bit of work on the site itself, so stay tuned for the next update. If you have any questions, go ahead and ask! I read everything in the comment section.
I expect to be away at least one (1) month or so, though I shall judge how I feel at the time.
See you soon!
Stay tuned!
Any tips for naming beastmen, elves, dragons, or locations. Im trying to wright a short story, but i am horible a coming up with names.
Whatever sounds right, I guess. Names have never been too much of a problem for me.
how’s your hand doing now? Any better?
Are you still trying to find a name for female noxian genitalia?
Oh yeah, that.
No, I haven’t really thought of anything.
Just use something that sounds foreign. like “roxonia”
For Elves consider gaelic names. For beastmen, consider really guttural sounding terms – not even names but combinations of primative sounds that can literally translate to REND-TEAR, RED-HORN or something similar if you wanted to develop their language. Dragons – I suggest mythology or looking up old D&D sourcebooks.
There’s a site called fantasynamegenerator that I use for a lot of my naming stuff. not just personal names, either. races, worlds, weapons, you name it, its there. sci-fi and fantasy. Really useful. I sound a bit like an advertisement, I know, but its free, so there’s that.
I just look at what your character kinda is like. If I got a blue character I Google names the have some meaning to water
two ways, you make giberish that sounds like a name, or your find a relative source; culture, character habits, race, source of original myths ecetera, what ever leads to a meaning you want. Then from there whittle and change and tell it fits the nature of your book, if you need to do that at all.
that said a good source for finding the meaning behind normal traditional names (from Norse, Hebrew, Welsh, Dutch, Polish, Spanish, African, Japanese and more) is https://www.behindthename.com/
its fairly good for the most part even has alternate versions of names and their etymology an such, other wise avoid sites that start throwing numbers at you (this name is a 12 “meaning love and compassion”) which while nice tend not to be accurate, if they have even bothered much at all in trying to be accurate.
Other things to add, their fantasy races, so as much as you can draw from their origins and those culture, all you reall need is some consistent, but very malleable structure around their names that fits their culture(s) and language in your book.
I like using any translation sites and either combining or altering the word(s) to make a name.
example: One of my cat-like races are called Nymu, combining ‘nya’ and ‘mew’, both are sounds cats make in different parts of the world.
or my tribal frog-like race, the Batrachi, is based of the scientific order for the Genus Anura (frogs and toads).
Look up names of medicines and chemical compounds, and voila, you have names of characters
I was wondering after you are finish with this storyline will you do spin offs of this series to go in depth of the lore because that would be awesome
When I finish this storyline, I’ll probably move on to something else, I’ve got quite a few other ideas floating around my brain! XD
Sounds exciting
tell me about it XD
Holy shit, this comic is fire dude! I love it! I think once you finish the story line you should sell hard copies, I totally would buy one and add it to my collection! Great art! I also think it would be cool to see a behind the scene session or something like that! Thanks for the great work!
Woah, nice wheels jeniffer
*Patiently waits for next page* Patience sucks lol.
Ive got to say that this is by far the best comic i’ve ever i’ve read. Keep doing your best.😀
I am stretched on the wedding, and on her children! becomes surely Funny
Just occurred that the Aegis on Tim’s buckle is probably his mother’s, which would answer the question about whether or not Tim knows his mother’s secret
Then again, maybe not. His mother’s Aegis had a diagonal notch cut into it while Tim’s Aegis looks pristine
I can’t wait until she eats his spleen.
idk if someone has pointed this out yet, but do you notice that Tim is wearing an Ageis on his belt?
Never mind, i look above my comment and see one talking about it.
