Well, all that magic involves a bigger question. How was Tim when he was born ? Did he seem to be, at least partially, Noxian or not ? Did Ruth and Thomas curse their own son to prevent him from looking like a Noxian? I would be interested if Shadow, pissed as she is right now, take the compendium she gave in this page back to Ruth to remove the spell while Thomas and Ruth are also there.
So that’s your official word on the subject, Brandon? Tim is indeed half-Noxian but naturally looks totally human? We’ve speculated on that a lot, but I don’t think you ever gave an explanation before.
When you say that, it makes me think that Tim still has the Nox smell and some of their odd abilities. Tim may have actually have done some of the book’s magic spells on himself (keeping his Noxien hidden) by unintentionally copying his mother’s disguise abilities and by instinctively powering up these abilities with the fear he gathers from a constant basis. Because of his naturally expressed human dna, it’ll take a lot more than a lack of focus to reveal his true nature or override his human features. Perhaps the opposite will happen, when Tim gathers so much fear that his nox features are unleashed in full-force, empowered enough to override his humanity.
It’s perhaps of the latter that Tim hasn’t expressed his unexpressed Noxian features, his parents are not too scared to accidentally cause this (because babies are small and are much more vulnerable). If they have been, Tim will actually need to put in more time and effort to maintain his human form as Noxians will pick up his human scent in the underground.
Even though Tim is canonically fortunate, being in the former, he will need to keep himself around fear to maintain his form. This means he’ll need to live in the human world to prevent the nox features from developing/appearing. But if the human world ever becomes me too fearful, a big benefit that the Noxians will want to push to drastically improve the maintaininance of of their society. Tim will be forced into expressing his Noxian features and possibly suffer from much more physical and health consequences than the latter situation.
He could have been born looking Noxian and nobody would even notice.
Have you ever seen a newborn baby covered in mucus, blood, and all manner of other gore? Or their (sometimes) very deformed heads or strange facial features?
They look like little alien monsters! It’s also no secret that as embryos and fetuses, humans bear uncannily close relation to embryos and fetuses of other animals (just one of the many evidence supporting the theory of evolution).
Now that shadow is up wielding it, is there a possibility of different clothes? Not saying anything is offf, but keep thinking about her rocking jeans and a tee.
I guess Shadow isn’t going to ever wear pants or any underwear. For her, that may be a lot more uncomfortable. You know when a nudist talks about how unfortable clothes are? The Nox will have a similar viewpoint on the matter, because of their culture and the low amounts of clothing they wear. It’ll be pretty out of character for Shadow to consider wearing more than two layers of clothes or any under-clothing.
Fun fact, child Tim wears Nox clothing, his jacket for example, but in his own way. Adult Shadow seems to be wearing a human dress but in her Noxian way.
Im new to commenting here, but i love the story. Been following for years. Heres my question. Just how is Shadow connected to Mortis? He seems strangely interested in her?
No, High Mother Moonlight cannot be Shadow’s mother, She’s Lady Blackheart’s sister (Ruth) and Brandon has already disposed of that familial connection by denying any incestuous relationship between Tim and Shadow.
I was looking forward to seeing what shadow would do in a jealous rage, but it is nice to get some questions answered as well. It’s just that these sundays are taking too long to get here. The suspense is killing me! Lol
Well, you know the saying. The easiest way to resist temptation is to remove temptation. I’m thinking that Midnight (I can’t remember her name, darn it. This bloody old age is killing me.) was tempted to do something and then realized it was the wrong thing to do.
Hey Brandon,
have you ever made a map oof Nox?
I am drawing get up maps for my D&D campaign and I wondered if you were planing on making a map?
My lettering sucks bit I kinda like the rest of my map
Ummm… nope. XD Honestly, it’s supposed to be a labyrinthine mess of hallways and tunnels and chambers, incomprehensible to a human’s sense of direction.
I’m reminded of a map of a dungeon I made once. There’s a hundred rooms. The notes for the dungeon started out with a reminder to roll an extra percentile die at some point in the middle of the players taking action in each room… to determine the next room they’d find themselves in. As far as how the hallways went… I just had fun getting them to draw odd shapes.
I think if I had to do that over, I’d have done a thousand and one rooms, with a lot of intentionally almost-like rooms, with a larger percentage of those being almost like the entrance but not. The extra room is, of course, to prevent them from going to the entrance three times in quick succession, right at the start.
It may well be a political ploy by Moonlight to boost her role as High Mother. similar to other politicians who each have a personal “schtick” like being always rumpled (Boris Johnson) or having orange-tinted skin.
Wow ! What a beautiful noxian. Thomas is sure lucky to be married to Ruthless.
Isn’t he, though?
Love doesn’t need marriage to function. Noxians probably look at marriage as a waste of time at best for these reasons alone.

There’s no spell, he luckily just happens to look human. If he looked the other way around, well, he probably would have had a very different life!
So that’s your official word on the subject, Brandon? Tim is indeed half-Noxian but naturally looks totally human? We’ve speculated on that a lot, but I don’t think you ever gave an explanation before.
There’s slightly more to it than that, but yes, generally speaking it is how it looks on paper.
I had assumed she was his step mom all along. Is his Dad human?

In other words, Tim’s situation is hell.
Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh……
He could have been born looking Noxian and nobody would even notice.

Bob, recapitulation theory has been laughed at since before your parents were born.
Now that shadow is up wielding it, is there a possibility of different clothes? Not saying anything is offf, but keep thinking about her rocking jeans and a tee.
In the human world, auto cirrrect said weilding
We will see her in more normal clothes… eventually.
“More human”

It’s not perverted if it’s true.
Well … her not liking it doesn’t mean she wouldn’t ever.

They both live in Nox and Mortis is a friendly guy! 😀
You got that right Brandon plus it’s seems that Mortis just wanted to be a good father figure for shadow just like her mother ( moonlight )
No, High Mother Moonlight cannot be Shadow’s mother, She’s Lady Blackheart’s sister (Ruth) and Brandon has already disposed of that familial connection by denying any incestuous relationship between Tim and Shadow.
Ruthless has the same tail shape as Lady Moomlight, are the two siblings?
Yeap.
I was looking forward to seeing what shadow would do in a jealous rage, but it is nice to get some questions answered as well. It’s just that these sundays are taking too long to get here. The suspense is killing me! Lol
We’ll get back to that soon. This is juts a quick stop.
Shadow likes human movies. Has she seen teen wolf? I’m reminded of a certain clothing shredding scene…
Well, you know the saying. The easiest way to resist temptation is to remove temptation. I’m thinking that Midnight (I can’t remember her name, darn it. This bloody old age is killing me.) was tempted to do something and then realized it was the wrong thing to do.
Her name is Shadow. Midnight is the blue one.
I’m kinda glad I colour coordinated them initially. XD
Hey Brandon,

Of* DAMB THIS F*CKING ANDROID PHONE!!!
Ummm… nope. XD Honestly, it’s supposed to be a labyrinthine mess of hallways and tunnels and chambers, incomprehensible to a human’s sense of direction.
Sounds like a PERFECT D&D map environment in 3D!
just need some time establishing goals, traps and loot
That sounds fun

So she hides her cookies in the flour box… Genius.
is opening the final door is going to take a half-Noxian?
so how did shadow almost lose it with the book?
Craig got his hands on it, briefly, during Halloween.
I don’t know what to comment
Is Ruth yellower then before or is this just the first time this much light has been on her in that form?
The last page she was on was much darker.
Ah
Will there be a scene were tim starts to look noxian
Aw man I’ve already forgotten what *glowing* is
Lady Moonlight (Ruth’s sister) glows, which Ruth thinks is silly.
Well I don’t think is silly that moonlight can glow i just find it cool 😎 about her characteristics
It may well be a political ploy by Moonlight to boost her role as High Mother. similar to other politicians who each have a personal “schtick” like being always rumpled (Boris Johnson) or having orange-tinted skin.
I thought Boris Johnson’s schtick was being a clueless idiot without a mouth-muffler. Granted, those particular attributes are hardly stand-out.
That certainly won’t make him stand out from the collective of “All Politicians”. Being dishevelled might at least against Farage or The Mogg.
