Taking a page out of my Gen-x “risk management/could something here harm me?” playbook, I can’t help but wonder if Noxian tails can be used to hurt and/or kill someone. With that in mind…
Does “Sparkles” even realize that very pointy tail is dangerously close to her cerebellum (assuming similar neural anatomy, that would turn a person’s motor function off like a light) or her exposed neck when the conversation gets deadly serious? Either way, I strongly suspect Eclipse’s reaction may have been very different, and very final, if she didn’t like Midnight’s response.
On the lighter/whimsical/sexy-sexy side, maybe Midnight’s not talking “penetration”, but rather, what if Eclipse is a “gasper”? ;D
I forgot when, but I’m pretty sure we’ve learned the tail spades are cartilaginous, so probably not much more rigid than human noses.
I suspect you’re right. I remember Tim noting how “pulpy” Midnight’s tail was.
That being said, unless it’s stated explicitly, I would not be terribly surprised if a Noxian tail could be used for strangulation, especially when wielded by someone who knows how to use it. That, however, could just be more “how dangerous is this thing” thinking on my part. Perhaps, I’m getting too into the weeds with it and if I step back a bit, they’re probably nothing more than a bit of decoration and “character flavor”, like hair color and styles.
ISTR Brandon saying (Lo! these many years ago) that the tail finials were an indicator to Noxian parentage or familial relationships.
So they’re more than a “bit of decoration and character flavour”.
There was once published a graphic of the various finials, with no text, but Brandon “can’t find it” any more to re-publish it.

Of course, it doesn’t mean my head-canon won’t continue to envision that scene as anything less than Midnight’s life riding on a razor’s edge at that very moment. (re: What would Eclipse have done if she did not like the deal put before her?) I’ve studied so many instances of fictional, as well as real-life, risk-fueled espionage and intrigue that one cannot unsee the potential danger at any given moment.
With that in mind, while the imminent calamity may have passed, there’s nothing to say Eclipse won’t lead our daring duo into a trap deep inside Brotherhood territory. She is, if nothing, a practical woman. If she thinks she’ll get a better deal by betraying them, then all the niceties are just a front to lull her marks into a false sense of security.

Is it concerning to everyone else that Eclipse has her tail at the back of Midnight’s head like a knife or is it just me?
