Are there any “guy” monsters? We haven’t seen any yet.

We know that this part of the Axis is controlled by the Sisterhood of Noctis, so it’s likely that all the monsters living around there are female. The male monsters just live elsewhere.

No, not exactly. It’ll get sorted out eventually, just like all the other purposefully vague stuff I include. 😉
Except you already explained it with that big splash page with Tim’s Not-fear of a girl scaring him (#44). Since we haven’t had an update on that particular subject, it follows that the Aegis is picking up on that.
Well, it certainly is doing that, I won’t deny that fact.
For some reason, I feel that the aegis measures the emotions coming from humans rather than just their fear….then it would make sense that Shadow (who isn’t scaring anyone) to have a high score.
Maybe. On the other hand, I doubt a Monster’s Inc-style ending will be happening here. Maybe it’s more about how they understand fear? And given all her recent exposure to Messrs. Freddy, Jason, etc…
She is scaring other people, we just haven’t seen it yet.
I see two possibilities: first, it’s been implied that Tim has particularly potent fear, which might have increased her fear ratio more than other humans. Second, her time with Tim, including watching horror movies, has considerably improved her understanding of human fear, greatly improving her ability to scare other people. Could be either or both.

…You know, I can’t help but ponder the fact that we’ve never seen another of these girls, (besides Nightmare) enter Timothy’s room. Could there be an unwritter, or written, rule regarding ownership/stewardship about each portal being given to the girls, or are we in for some $#!? to hit some fans later on?
I think they are assigned certain doors, Shadow just favours Tim’s door a lot.
What I’ve gathered from this page.
1. Monstermom is pretty adorable when she smiles.
2. Monstermom has just figured out that Shadow is up to something.
3. Nightmare has probably just graduated to ‘real nemesis’ for Shadow, instead of just a snarky rival.
4. Middy and Nightmare are going to forever be ‘those two girls’ who do nothing but drive each other nuts.

I think can see why this page took you longer than normal, Brandon. A complicated background and lots of character poses. Then again, I’m not artist, so what do I know? Don’t worry about it being late, I’d much rather you post the strip a day late than rush it out before it’s ready.

Showing my age here but, panel 2, the aegis on the desk with the meter had me instantly thinking laser tag…
Also, a rather interesting statue on that shelf. Am I wrong in thinking there exist in this realm other sisterhoods that feed off other human instincts/emotions?

It’s mostly planned out already. There’s some wiggle room to explore a few ideas further if need be though.

So are the male counterparts, like just on par with them as normal monsters. or are they like big hulking brutes that are mainly labor mongers for the head hanchoes

I have to agree with some other people here : Mother must have noticed something odd in her aegis and is waiting for the good moment to bring it up.

Perhaps the fear she seen in Shadow’s Aegis is a different kind of fear she has never seen before.
